Let's face it, the more you look at the Lincoln Riley

situation, the more you realize this: In one fell swoop, he has turned Oklahoma into the next Nebraska. Unless the rules are quickly changed, a whole bunch of current and FUTURE Schooner players are going to follow him to USC. He will also cherry pick whoever he wants off his OU coaching staff to go with him. OU recruiting will be set back five years at least.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma is once again led by: Bob Stoops? I can't see that building much excitement these days. Especially since it was well known that Riley was a big part of the reason for Stoops later success. That is why Stoops stepped down in the first place, he knew Oklahoma would lose Riley if he stayed. So, he "took one for the team". So, this second gig is his reward, I guess. He won't like it. The Fighting Gundy's finally found a way to not choke away Bedlam, so the Big 12 is no longer an OU fiefdom.
This is good for Clemson, too. Bob Stoops being back in charge, even as interim, pretty much guarantees that Brent Venables won't give them a second glance. But, just to make sure, Clemson needs to make him the first $3 Million dollar assistant coach. He has more than earned that on merit, with exclamation points this season.
Oklahoma fans should hope that they in fact do not join the SEC until 2025. That date is when they officially become Nebraska.

They will get Bob Stoops brother from Kentucky. BV will get serious offers this year.

Karma for Oklahoma holding their noses and holding hands with their new best buddy the devil Texas and jumping to the SEC. What they get for screwing over the Big 12, I think it's great Riley burned OU and LSU on the way out.

It's a GREAT move for Riley. The people in Oklahoma are

butthurt because they say he took the easy way out. News flash, HE DID! Coaches should go where they think the best chance of success is, if they are motivated by winning. Riley will have a similar path to the CFP in the PAC 12 as we do in the ACC. Let all the maroons in the SEC beat each others brains out every week, it's what they deserve for trying to gobble up the entirety of college football.
I never thought that Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC was a good move for the future of college football. It was much more of a Kevin Durant move, where, if you can't beat them, then JOIN them.
Texas was already largely irrelevant. They will be middle or below the middle of the pack in the SEC.
I would have said the same about Oklahoma a few days ago. Now, their future doesn't even look THAT bright.

76er®, super smart post.
Had not thought in detail that the new Portal Potty rules make it all the more damaging for HC at one school to jump to another school.
With the portal, he can not only get new recruits to flip, but can also use the Portal to bring his star players from the 'old' team over to the HC's 'new' team.
If the NCAA does not figure out some rules to keep a HC who leaves from burning down his previous employer's College FB team, then I could see the NCAA -plus- both the 'old' school & the 'new' school being embroiled in law suits.
NO one wants that; the NCAA has got to get its act together VERY VERY quickly before they get re-named as the Johnny Cochran Athletic Association.

Its laughable to me that some still think the ncaa has some sort of say in div 1A football. That ship sailed long ago. The major conferences are the ones holding this bag o carp

OU can recruit Texas and they will be fine.
Nebraska lost their Texas recruiting base and are lost. Kinda like what happened to Ark.
