As an Uber driver in Clemson..

Feb 12, 2016, 4:49 PM

It's pretty awesome to give football players rides. I just gave Tucker Israel a ride from DV to the dorm. His foot is healing well. He had just gotten out of a meeting with coach Streeter.

How is it driving an Uber here? I was thinking of doing it

As you will be shuttling around unfathomable amounts of drunk, loud squawking sorority girls

It's very slow during the day.

I recommend doing it at night on the weekends. Drunk people.

I couldn't afford a cab when I was in school.

Feb 12, 2016, 5:29 PM

When you got drunk, you walked. When you got to school, you parked the car and walked.

Yep. Times have definitely changed. My Father sent me $5 a week. I had to get a job in order to survive. Of course, this was back in the Dark Ages.

I used to drive the freshmen football players around in a university van when their keys were taken away during 2 a days. Those were interesting times. Like seeing Travis Zachary cussing out the people at Taco Bell for putting tomatoes on his Mexican Pizza. Or Terry Jolly trying to walk through a Wendy's drive through. I also got chained into some woods one afternoon and I also tried to use the van to pick up girls walking back from the pit.

i remember Jolly and T-Zac

Feb 13, 2016, 10:13 AM

Those guys used to come into Fike. Travis was an incredible basketball player but was a d!ck. I almost got into a fight with him when he elbowed me in the face setting a screen. I'm glad my friends stepped in because he would have certainly kicked my @ss

What kind of car insurance do you have? Regular personal auto?

Feb 12, 2016, 7:59 PM

Or do you have to have a commercial auto policy?

This is a very good question...

Feb 12, 2016, 8:08 PM

From what I can tell, the Uber commercial policy is activated as soon as the fare is picked up, and is deactivated upon the fare's departure from the vehicle.

+1 for what I consider to be an excellent question.

My senior year I had a group of friends that was really bad at being designated drivers. When we went to TTTs there were a couple guys who just could never manage. We were well off campus so it was going to be a long drunken walk.

That's where AAA came in. Pull a fuse and ask for a tow home to fix it at home. Takes a little longer, but we got home. eventually. Only had to do it 6 times before AAA refunded my membership. Aahhh....college
