A good chunk of students won't care and will show up on Saturday for Gameday anyway if that was an option. I am from out of state and don't have the option of going home for fall break, so hypothetically if we don't get CGD for Notre Dame and they come the following week I'd be there bright and early along side a few others I'm sure.

a tendency to schedule fall breaks over the years to coincide with home football games. You'd think there would be a way around this? There are only a few of these each year after all.

The university makes the academic calendar years in advance

While the conference sets our ACC schedule in January/February. The only way to guarantee a road game over fall break would be to have a non conference road game that we schedule in the middle of the season.
