Areas for improvement for 2020 season.

Jan 14, 2020, 8:50 AM

Interested to see what everyone thinks this team needs to improve the most to make another run at a NC? For me, it's the defensive line, and more specifically, the ability to pressure the QB without having to blitz. Last night we had to resort to rushing 5 or even 6 at times to get any meaningful pressure on the QB.

That's already been addressed in recruiting

with several already on campus preparing for spring ball. Going to be a lot of competition on the DL this spring, and I'd be shocked if we're not back to our customary 4 man front next year.

Also going to be intense competition on the OL and at S. Overall a lot of talent to work with

How many times this year have you heard Xavier thomas’s Name called? I wonder what’s going on with him? I hope he can make an impact at some point.

We're playing 3-tech all day long. Once Bresee and Capehart come in, you will be hearing his name a lot more.

Screw Calford.

I’d like to see who’s coming back before I answer that

Question.

O-Line will be a focus.

DT needs depth.

What do I think; I think I'll leave it up to our coaching staff.
No one , and I mean no one on this site had anything to do with our success this season, or our failure to capture the National Championship last night.

financial contributions have nothing to do with the team's success? I don't buy that.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Pass rush for sure

Also, not really an area for improvement per se, but perhaps the next largest concern is very clearly the OL. And having the DL and OL as your two biggest areas of concern is certainly not what you want heading into a season.

i know we shouldn’t count on one player and I’m sure our coaches didn’t but Belk

Not panning out hurt our dline. As much as our defense could have done better last night, I honestly think our offense not scoring put way too much pressure on our defense. In that first quarter even though offensively we did pretty good, we left some points on the table on a defensive stop. We easily could and should have been within one score rather than being down by 3 scores at the end.
