However, here is something all you Dawg fans or other SEC homers should consider. If this young man is truly his own man, he will want to blaze his own trail. Much like his uncle Peyton did when he rejected Ole Miss in favor of the relative unknown Tennessee.
If it comes down to a recruiting battle between Kirby Smart and Dabo Swinney, Clemson will win that 100 times out of 100. Clemson will NOT win if this young man is motivated purely by money, due to the superior war chest the SEC possesses. But, considering the financial history of the Manning family, along with the increasing prevalence of NIL deals, I have to think money will only be a secondary consideration at best in this battle.
If young Mr. Manning has a predisposition to ONLY play in the SEC, then Clemson is obviously out of it. The fact that he is setting up visits to Clemson in addition to SEC schools tells me that is not the case. As I said, due to his family history, he has no need to accumulate "swag", by going on pointless visits. If he is coming to Clemson to visit, we are at least nominally in the hunt for his services. And Dabo Swinney is the best closer on the planet. This will indeed be a most interesting recruitment.
