Are Sean Pollard and Taylor Hearn ready??

Jan 8, 2017, 9:54 PM

Those two must be at least "serviceable" for DW, Gallman, Leggett, and the WRs to do their thing.

Pollard was called out by an anonymous NFL scout as "atrocious" in an SI article. Seems pretty unfair, but he will have to block Allen.

Cannot have anyone on the OL be a turnstile. Thoughts?

Pillars has played pretty well I thought this year. Hearn is kind of hit or miss at times

If they aren't we lose. This is the key to the game

Talked about this in another post. We are in big trouble if Watson cannot function due to Bama's defensive pressure from only four DL. Tempo will be decisive in allowing us to compete.

Go Tigers!

This will decide the game.

Jan 8, 2017, 10:56 PM

It is the weak point of the whole team. Bama will come at those two with a relentless barrage of intelligent, well coached, five star beasts. If they can hold them off, we win. If its a revolving door, we lose. I really think it is that simple.

while I agree that this is the key to the game,

I feel much better about things after watching the Bama - Ole Miss game from this year.

Yes, it was the 3rd game of the year, but there were several things that stood out

including the fact that Ole Miss had at best a serviceable O-Line.

Even still Bama did not beat them with 4-man pressure.

Most of the time Bama got home to Kelly they were blitzing a LB or safety.

Also, Ole MIss had a terrible D-Line and generated no pressure at all.

Yet Bama's passing attack was hit-and-miss all day.

Kelly and Ole Miss put up lots of yards and points on Bama,

and if Bama plays like that against us

DW will kill them.

It doesnt matter one bit how they played the 3rd week of the season. They are a completely different team now, as all teams evolve throughout the season. We are much better than we were the 3rd week of the season also.

I don't think Pollard will be in there to start the game at least. He was getting beat pretty good vs OSU and Anchrum had to come in a shut it down.

Our offensive line play is the key to the game

Jan 9, 2017, 8:32 AM

If they give the same performance they did against Auburn's front, which I think is even with Bama's, we win. Hearn has to at least break even on his matchup and so does Pollard.

I have more faith in Pollard than some.

Jan 9, 2017, 8:36 AM

I think he will be a great one. I think he will play well. I realize he has a touch match up, but I think he will hold his own enough to get it done overall. I am more worried about Hearn. They have had plenty of time to prepare, so I am thinking they will hold up.

Jan 9, 2017, 8:46 AM

Yeah Hearn vs Johnathan Allen who wouldn't be worried. The fact that we have two guards who both need center help in pass pro has been a weak spot all year.

Ummmm not burst yalls bubble but isn't Allen over Hyatt? Our offense for the most part doesn't demand over powering the guy in front of you but redirecting, so to speak. Moving the pocket from time to time, QB draws, slants, screens are all used to alleviate the strong pass rush. Will see how it works out

I hope we don't miss Fruhmorgen too much tonight

Jan 9, 2017, 9:04 AM

I do expect Pollard/Anchrum to rise to the occasion though.
