The heart catheterization went well. All passages are open to allow insertion of the aortic valve on July 12th. Feeling great.

I had my aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve in 2013. You will do fine. Exercise and pt for a period of time and you will be good as new. One draw back, with a mechanical valve you will be placed on blood thinners. The other route is a pig valve which does not last as long as the mech. valve. You also develop a strong desire to go out and roll in the mud.

My Uncle had a pig valve installed and was Coumadin the rest of his life. The pig valve worked well enough for him and it was not how he died. The hospital sent a guy in with a mechanical valve to answer any questions and remember believing I could hear his valve working.

I have already been on blood thinners foe several years due to AFIB problems, so I have learned to handle that.

Sounds like it is being inserted via cathederization

instead of full blown open heart surgery. They cracked my chest open and did open heart surgery when they replaced my aortic valve with a pig valve a few years ago. When it wears out, they will replace it with a mechanical valve via cathederization, which allows for a much easier and faster recovery.
Good luck to you! You will be in my prayers. I bet you will feel better once it's done. Keep us posted.
