Going into the hospital at 5:00 am tomorrow for heart catheterization in preparation for an aortic valve replacement that will be scheduled as soon as possible. Feeling positive. This procedure is not as invasive as in years past.
A heck of a present for my 93rd July 4th birthday.

my Mom had had her aorta and valve replaced when she was 80. did fine . Lived till she was 89.

Medical procedures are amazing. They can build a body basically but Cancer has the mutations that prevent stoppage! I was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, went 9yrs of radiation and chemo, still kicking. My cancer is back and need to start chemo again, I put off for 9mos because over 100 doses of chemo i needed a break. Be glad you have reconstructive surgery vs treatments for extended life. Look for the positives!

Did you see the cancer med trial, i think it was colon cancer, that all of the small number of patients went into remission? Crazy advancements are ahead soon hopefully.

They advertise so many drugs anymore, its hard to keep up. But a very popular drug is Keytruda that is advertised all the time. It's actually immunotherapy but I was one of the first 14ppl in the initial trials. I have taken 47 doses which is 3x the amount of a full course today. Normal series is 14 doses, one every 3 wks. I took 3yrs worth. It shrunk my tumors but just did not eradicate. So I have not been cancer free since 2010 but I am still kicking. That same Keytruda was FDA approved for Melanoma that metastisized but since then it has been approved for 14 cancer types since then to include: Melanoma, small cell lung cancer and few other types, kidney cancers and I think either Gall or pancreatic cancer is close to being added.
In 2012 my Dr. gave me 9-12mos. They sent me the public service representative that takes you through the disability, medicare and social security applications. They told me to get my 'WILL' and other priorities in order. All of this while I was in ICU where they gave me chemo poison until my body actually shut down, they said to kill me first, then feed me all the IV Nutrients I need to revive me and re-boot my immune system. This torture only cost me and insurance $128,360.00 per week and I had 6wks of this over a 3mo period. It's no wonder so many ppl die from medical neglect.
Each injection of chemo that I typically took 5-8 per wk but each cost around $14,860 per dose. Then add the ICU bed plus all the other drugs.

thoughts and prayers. My dad had the same procedure about 8 years ago, and was up and about in no time. He went right back to mowing the lawn inside of a few months. said he felt like a new man, and he is still with us.
