No, but I have never been so disappointed in a coach in my life. He claimed even on the way to the airport that he was not leaving. He ended up in a very bad way. It is good that Alabama is recognizing him. It will mean a lot to his family. Remember "Coach Pell is Hell"? Even talking about him hurt for a long time but Danny had a good run!

Yep, I remember it was "Give em h*ll Pell." Then it became "Go to h*ll Pell."

He was a 7-footer at Jacksonville coached by eventual Furman legend Joe Williams.

Sure do - #1 NBA draft pick. Joe could reel in the players.***

Well, after doing a little research, that is not totally

May 8, 2012, 10:32 PM

correct. He went to the ABA out of college, where he was league MVP as a rookie. Then, when the ABA folded a few years later, he was the #1 pick in the "dispersal" draft by the Bulls.

My memory has a few holes in it, I guess.
