Anybody notice the playoff has been bad for Clemson?

All three years, we would have been in the BCSCG without need to play an extra game.

I'm sorry to say but, under the BCS system, I don't think that Clemson would have ever been chosen to play for a NCG!!!

Agreed, I believe we got a more fair ranking because of the four team format and the committee. Otherwise the popularity stunt would have had us ranked a bit lower last year.

I will say this, we got a pass this year, the committee loves Clemson and Bama. They believe we are the 2 best teams, they just couldn’t put Bama at #2 because of their late loss. From here forward Clemson will get the nod for the playoffs just like Bama unless we Royally F stuff up. All b/c of Dabo’s swag

The BcS system would not have put us in last year.
I think it is wrong that got in last year and Bama this year but the 4 team system still makes college football games meaningful (except for Bama).
I suspect that the CFP committee knew that people didn't want to see Clemson/OSU again. By slipping Bama in at 4, they guaranteed the Clemson/Bama III which will have great ratings.
College football does not want any hard rules. They want the flexibility to put in whatever teams (within reason) they can.
If they would have put UNLV in, they simply could have said they were unequivocally better than the other teams and there is nothing anyone could do about it. It would destroy all credibility but ultimately it comes down to $$$$$$$.

The best way to get the two best teams playing for the NCG I think would be to have a 8 team playoff. The two best teams would most likely get to play each other at the end!!!
