Use distilled water. NOT tap water.

Feb 26, 2013, 1:36 PM

reported cases of people getting brain eating bacteria from these things using tap water. Google it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes. It works. It gets some seriously nasty stuff out of

Feb 26, 2013, 1:49 PM

your sinuses that you can't get out by blowing.

Tips:
-Only use boiled water (or distilled water). Wait for it to cool or you'll burn the #### out of your nose.
-Make sure to keep your mouth open and breath or the water will get stuck up in your nose.

You'll have a saline taste in your mouth for a bit but it worth it b/c you'll be able to breath again.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL..."use boiled water, but let it cool first".

Feb 26, 2013, 2:06 PM

Good advice.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh, so YOU tried the boiling water???????***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Feb 27, 2013, 8:26 AM

Do people with brain issues actually KNOW they have brain issues?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pro Tip:

Feb 26, 2013, 3:56 PM

Use it in the shower. A lot less messy this way.

I just put the salt in mine and fill it with water from the shower head. No brain eating bacteria yet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I use it all the time. If you use tap water, boil it and

Feb 26, 2013, 6:33 PM

let it cool until it's about 95 degrees or so. I think the hypertonic solutions work better than the isotonic solutions.

It's kinda weird to get used to, but these things are great.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yes

Feb 26, 2013, 6:36 PM

Clean it very thoroughly and use distilled water

otherwise you might get the brain fungus

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They make a nice chemical to do that for you

Feb 27, 2013, 8:27 AM

it's called Afrin

I'm shocked at the number of lungers who use a netti pot

Feb 27, 2013, 8:29 AM

I've also wondered but always too afraid to use it.

Do you have to do it daily? Like every morning?

Bought one yesterday.

Feb 27, 2013, 8:44 AM

Used it when I got home and before bed and it did pretty well. Did it this morning, awesome, morning was the best.

Feels really weird, but it works.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My wife has been trying to get me to use one of these.

Feb 27, 2013, 8:48 AM

So if you use it in the morning are your sinuses clear the whole day?

I guess the real test is coming up in a couple months.

had a couple more weeks before it started. This is the first time I've noticed falling before a truly nice warm day. I guess that is what a mild winter causes.
