done that too,but only it was with my wife's car keys.we spent a considerable amount of time looking in about 4-5 inches of snow,until i finally retraced my footsteps back to the kitchen.

... maybe the bar you were in last night? I have found many restaurants that I often frequent very honest and protective of their regulars. They even take care of keys and cell phones, etc. ... mmm, just sayin.

About 20 years ago, I was at a conference, 500 miles away,

in Louisville's Freedom Hall. Vendors were set up in one of the exhibit halls, my wife & I walked through the 100 plus vendors for a couple hours before heading home. I made a purchase from one of the vendors. Back home a couple days later, I realized my credit card was missing and realized the last place I used it was at Freedom Hall.
I still had the bag I brought my purchase home in, with the vendor's name and phone number on it. Mind you, this was at their storefront business, somewhere in Indiana. I called the store, gave them my name and asked if they had my credit card. They did, and mailed it to me!

My situation is I find my pocket knife the day after I buy a new one. Has happenrfd more than once.
