Similar. People come to visit and are like, “let’s go see The Big House!! I want to see the stadium”. I wait until we get there to tell them that it’s in the ground and you can’t see chit but the scoreboard.

Been to the stadium for a couple of UCLA games back in the day. Simply beautiful scenery, both in nature and the female form.

I have been there a few times, but one time was cool was when I was a kid and not inside and the Superbowl was being played there and I went sat on hillside and my Dad made a picnic and we listened to it on the radio and we could only see one side of the stadium and crowd. It was cool when they are screaming. I was really small, but one of my earliest sports memories.

yes, went to the 2002 Rose Bowl - Miami-Nebraska BCS

I went out there very much on a whim - it was a true "bucket list" thing like you say.
I had a bunch of Delta frequent flyer miles expiring at end of year, so I made the call to do this trip, somewhere I had never been before but wanted to go. Made the plans before I knew who was playing, didn't matter to me. I knew it was the BCS game, that was special. Went by myself, offered girlfriend at time but she wasn't interested in travelling with the 9/11 events happening a few months earlier in September.
Rose Bowl Parade - eh, OK. Not a big parade fan. Floats were cool, made out of millions of roses. Smelled really good. I stayed on the main route it went down in Pasadena, went right past my hotel, so it was worthwhile to watch I suppose. Hed been to dozens of Mardi Gras parades in my time, which has ruined me for life as parades go. Nothing can ever compare to the insanity and pure debauchery of those - the free stuff being thrown, the drinking, the nudity.
As you might figure, security was ridiculous. It was easily 2 hours getting in. Rumor was the Taliban was gonna bomb a big sporting event, and this one naturally fit the bill. I actually scored a free ticket outide the gate from a Nebraska fan. With Miami and Nebraska, ticket demand wasn't what it would normally be for a Pac 12-Big 10 matchup. Lucky there.
The stadium is in a beautiful area - TV does it no justice. Mountains surrounding it, high dollar homes, golf course adjacent (it's the parking lot, which I cannot fathom how the golf course superintendent manages that). Stunning place.
But stadium was a DUMP. I was appalled at the bathroom conditions, and the portals were so tight I could literally touch both sides walking through. And being all one bowl - you're WALKING some steps. Best be in shape. Missed halftime and almost the entire 3rd quarter standing in line for bathroom and for a soda/popcorn. Poor, poor amenities. But I have heard they have renovated since and it is much better now.
Game sucked as you know, never in doubt. But had a great time. Saw maybe the best team of all time (2001 Miami) play live.
Rose Bowl is very much worth going if you ever get the chance. Hopefully Clemson will make it some day.

With the conference alignments to bowls, we won’t have a chance, right??

when we played Bama in NO, UGA played Oklahoma in Rose Bowl. It is one of the CFP spots.
We coulda - some say shoulda - gone to Rose Bowl that year. Playing Bama in NO was unfair advantage for #4 seed Bama vs #1 seed Clemson IMO.

No but I'd really love to spend some time in California. I know it would take months just to see that state and I'll never have the money to do it right.
