Outdoor projector for tailgating party

Aug 10, 2021, 4:27 PM

Considering getting a projector and screen for the Clemson Georgia game. Do a good outdoors get together and cook out at the house.

There are sooo many options of Amazon for a good price. Any recommendations from those that have a set up. Projector questions mainly but if there’s a solid screen set up as well I’d welcome the info.

Any of the screens will work

Go big or go home right? Get minimum of 10ft.

Before these things were common I just set up my 10x10 canopy tent and projected on a white side wall. Got the job done.

I ended up buying 120inch a screen about 3 years ago.

You can buy a frame or build one. I used 5 ft sections of 2in PVC pipes to build mine.

Set it up a day or so before to try to get out the wrinkles.

Projector...the higher the lumens ...and contrast the better.

If you just want to use it in the backyard from time to time, you don't need a $600 projector.
Get a brand you trust, optmax, benq or epson.

After that just worry about how you will connect it to your device and speakers. Audio is the hardest part. Getting good stereo sound is difficult with bluetooth.

I use a 10 year old epson that only has a VGA and component inputs/outputs. I have to connect it to an old laptop that still has a VGA output.
I use my ecoxgear bluetooth speaker for sound and connect through the headset on the laptop.

Works just fine.

You shouldn't need to spend more than a couple hundred all together.. you can even hit up facebook market place.

You will have to have a back up plan in the 1st half. You won't be able to see the screen well until the sun is fully down.. like 9 pm.

Checked out those brands. Def great quality but 500 and up. Looking for a cheaper option. Anyone else had any luck with these setups

I found some viewsonoc, epson. Optima on line for $250-300 but that is more than I would spend.

U can try a china brand if you want off amazon.. just make sure you can return it.

I bought a mini projector once and it sucked so I returned it.

Dunno what area you live in..but I went on facebook market place and ...there were many people selling projectors for under 200 on the greenville sc area.. has to be more in the tampa area.

Thanks! Will check that out

I’m upstate SC. Name was reference to us getting to the championship games a few years back. After we made it back figured I’d be changing the name A LOT so just kept it.

A friend bought a $100-ish projector off Amazon last year. It’s actually really good quality and has high lumens. It even came with a screen.

Problem is, this time of year you’ll only be able to actually see the 2nd half if you are watching outside.

Just make sure you have low light. Outside around 730 pm it may be kinda hard to see until the sun sets a little more. Maybe set up on the SE side of your house.
