Anti-VAXers, I just ask why?

Oct 21, 2021, 8:29 PM

I understand that we don’t know how this vaccine will impact us years from now. But the FDA has now approved vaccines. We don’t know the long-term impact of vaccines, but we do know that Covid does have long-term repercussions. Clearly, if you have a brain the lesser of the two evils is to take the vaccine. I have a friend that got Covid a few months ago and she still has not recovered her taste of smell even though she is fine otherwise. Numerous other vaccines that I won’t bother to identify specifically have helped our society in so many ways.

Sometimes you have to do what’s best for all of us instead of you being mad that your freedoms are compromised and doing what is only what’s best for you. If you don’t agree that you should take the vaccine to do was best for society, I suspect you also don’t wear a seatbelt and don’t obey the speeding limits. If you don’t want to take the vaccine that’s your prerogative. But if you make that decision its only fair to stay away from the rest of us. I’ll give you that if you had the infection already that’s different. But if not you have no grounds in my opinion to expose yourself to the rest of us if you are not vaccinated. Otherwise it’s just gigantically selfish. I don’t understand why people don’t get it.

Yelling into the wind with that lot.

Their body their choice. Unless it pertains to women. Then it's not your body your choice...they get an opinion and a right and a decision on what happens. But that's ok. But no one can tell them what to do with a vaccine because frEEdUms.

My wife and I both got the vaccines (both first and second ones). My wife has auto immune diseases and after 5-6 months of hives-our doctor told us that my wife’s hives were probably from the second vaccine. Who knows, maybe he is wrong but I have watched my wife deal with unbelievable hives on her stomach and her back and it is not a good situation. We can not look back and go back into time, but people who have not gotten the vaccine may have an issue that you do not know about. The vaccine people no matter what, should back off and understand that their are others that have had issues and please do not discount that.

VAXers, I just ask why you care?

Oct 21, 2021, 8:57 PM

Vaxed can get it, spread it, and die from covid.

More covid deaths this year with the vax than last year without.

2 most recent studies one out of eng and one from Israel both show more deaths of vaxed than unvaxed.

And most importantly:
If you are vaxed... why do you care?

Point one- true but statistically less apt to be hospitalized or die if vaxxed.

Point two--probably more to do with delta than anything else and the deaths this year certainly in the US were overwhelmingly with the unvaxxed.

Point three--The English and Israeli deaths probably have more to do with very large percentages of the population being vaxxed as opposed to being unvaxxed and waning efficacy from early vaccination. The raw death numbers are meaningful, but comparing the death rate between the vaxxed and unvaxxed would seem a more meaningful measurement. I'm not aware of the death rate stats in the UK and Israel?

Point four--totally agree 100%. I chose to get vaxxed and got the booster based on age and time from completion of the first two shots, but I could care less at this point what someone else chooses to do.

I am also tired of having to mask up to fly, visit a healthcare facility, etc. especially when I would bet 20-25% of the folks I saw in the airport today are apparently 100% mouth breathers as this is what they chose to keep covered, leaving the nose free. The mask mandate is a farce as it exists now.

The vaccine is not the end all, be all, but it's significantly better than nothing, however I feel people should chill if they've had the vaccine and quit stressing over others.

I'm doing everything I did before COVID, if I get COVID and die, so be it. I'm fine at this point with others making a different choice.

Very well stated... Kudos. Exactly where I stand.***

There is an

important MLB game on with regional impact for many.

NFL is on and although Broncs are terrible, Browns deserve the light.

NHL is back and Red Wings are on average fighting twice a game

NBA is on and the parody is great in the league.

But you determine that people was to talk vaccinated vs anti-vaccinated. Save that ######## for the day crowd when everyone is bored at work. Basically, get a life.

Two things:

Oct 22, 2021, 9:00 AM

1. wrong board.

2. "Clearly, if you have a brain the lesser of the two evils is to take the vaccine." - I agree with this, except it isn't a foregone conclusion that non-vaxed people will get the virus. Clearly it IS a forgone conclusion that vaxed people WILL be exposed to potential potential evils.

If I was logically trying to chose the lesser of the two evils, and I had some sort of actual reliable numbers to base this on, I would calculate the following:

{probability of serious illness from vaccine} + {probability of catching covid as vaxxed} X {probability of series illness from covid as vaxxed}

vs

{probability of catching covid as non-vaxxxed} X {probability of serious illness from covid as unvaxxed}

Pulling numbers entirely out of my arsee:
0.001% + (5% X 0.0001%)

vs

(10% X 0.1%)

0.0015% vs 0.01%

so using my completely fake numbers, in this situation, the smart money would be on getting the vax... which is what I chose. I'm sure my wildass numbers are off by multiple orders of magnitude, though.
