forget about recruiting the high school kids. Think of all the advantages:
- the recruit would have 1-2 extra years to bulk up, gain strength, mature, and adjust to college life before even playing one down at Clemson.
- eliminating recruiting trips to visit high school recruits for 2-4 years each would result in substantial savings in travel costs.
- less recruiting trips would give the coaches more time to game plan and focus on NIL matters.
- the social media team and other support staff would have more time to spend on NIL and branding, rather than pandering to high school kids.
- no longer have to deal with those cringeworthy ceremonies on National Signing Day – not to mention delays due to someone’s mother not showing up on time.
I really don't see a downside with this approach.

Not advocating recruiting only from the portal but there were 10 players who were transfers on all-sec teams this year. The rampant assumption that there is no talent there is just plain wrong.

With the NIL they are now professional players. We should go after guys who only lasted 2-3 years in the NFL and have a year of eligibility left.
