military and law enforcement is a bad combination.
If someone needs an assault rifle to kill a deer, they need to take up fishing. BTW, I'm a lifelong Republican (59 years old).
I'm all for the right to own a hand gun for the protection of your home and family, and to own a rifle for hunting.
Assault rifles need to be addressed in national legislation. There is no rational justifiable reason to own an assault rifle. The very name of the rifle itself describes what it should be used for, military or law enforcement "assault" on enemies of the state and nation by people trained with the use of the weapon.

Nothing special about the adjective “assault.” Any semi auto weapon will do the same thing. Pull trigger, shoot round. The actual debate probably should be magazine size, how many rounds will it hold. By law, when duck hunting my gun is limited to three rounds before needing to reload. Are ducks more valuable than humans?

Don’t most rifles come with a clip that holds 9 bullets. I believe my 22 holds 9. The issue with these school shootings is that besides being batsh!t crazy he had a multitude of extra clips. All of those clips could have been 5-9 standard clips. The issue is mental health. Currently there is none.
So many people saying the FBI had been told about this kid. Would it matter if the FBI, CIA or your local sheriff would have known about this kid, exactly what could they do. Do you know how many amendments they would have broken just grabbing him up off of the street. How many crazy people publish stuff on fb, Twitter, instagram, snap chat etc.. hell people even threaten the lives of our elected officials from the President down. He was suspended from school, once again how many violent or mentally ill students are suspended. It’s not the Feds that have to fix this, this is a home town, homegrown problem. First there are not psychiatric hospitals anymore. At most they are sent to local hospital held for 4-5 days, put on meds and thrown back in the street. That hospital has no idea if those medicines get filled or not (can’t afford) or if the person will take the pills.

The rifle the crazy kid used was a rifle prettied up. Because it has different casings does it make it more dangerous. Rifles shoot a multitude of ammo from a 22 to a bullet that’s 3 inched long 720?

Personally Andre was a great Clemson football player. I could care less what his opinion is on this topic or any other current event. I know it should not be on the football board.
