Here are your transfer portal options so far.

Not as amazing as some make it out to be imo.

Those could be 2 slot receivers right there...IF...that was what the staff wanted.

Maclin may be a cousin..brother or something to that Jeremy Maclin.

I think their attitudes etc matter as well. WHo knows what their issues are? Do they even want to be Tigers and do we even want them? As far as slot, maybe Taylor and Stellato(if we put him there) have potential? How about Brannon Spector when healthy? Those are 3 right there that will be in the mix that aren't now. Seems like we have answers within the program for slot possibly. I am not against the portal at all, but I don't think it's as simple as some want to make it.

Maclin is Jeremy’s cousin

a bit misleading

Oct 26, 2021, 5:40 AM

If you change the filter to players that are already committed to a new school, you can see who was available that we didn't look at.

Hopefully people are aware that looking to the portal in the middle of the season is not a great idea.

True. It's just starting. They are flocking there though at this stage. I don't think we have a position of need though that can be filled in the portal. Yeah sure we need a Sammy Watkins or a Nuk, but I don't think that will be out there. Obviously we have issues at QB. Will there be a one and done stud QB out there or do we just wait for Klubnik to develop? WHat do we need that's not on the team somewhere and will be in the portal?

Schools competing for the national championship are not going to find transfer players on that list. They are going to find and recruit the players that they want from other teams and then put them on that list prior to accepting their transfer.

You are not going to find your transfer players on that list. You identify the players you think are vulnerable/transferable that you want to transfer to your school, continue to recruit them, get them committed, and then they go on that list. At which point you claim them.

Ohio State did not find Justin fields or Trey sermon on the transfer portal list. They continued to recruit them while they were at Georgia and Oklahoma respectively. They arranged a deal and the players entered the portal and then Ohio State claimed them.

LSU continued to recruit Mike Jones Junior, made a deal, and then he entered the transfer portal. Ditto Wisconsin with Chez Mellusi.

Schools competing for a national championship will further use this transfer portal by sending third string players not able to compete for two deep roster into the portal to create a scholarship for the players they do want either through portal recruitment or standard recruitment. It is easier than telling the kid hey your career at this SEC school is over.

Clemson needs to be able to identify high-quality starting offensive lineman and defensive lineman (any players) on their current teams, continue to recruit, get a commitment, etc. It is really that simple but it is a dirty business as is all college football recruiting. It is illegal to tamper with players on another roster. It is illegal for a construction company to offer a no-show job. Enter NIL. New rules to understand. New concepts to get comfortable with no matter how illegal they are.

Only so many of the recruiting successes are going to turn into on field successes. You have to use all 85 chances.

Sorry, you can make an argument for the portal but now you are making an argument for NCAA violations. Everything you described is a violation. Sure it is happening but that is not the program Dabo has built and would do more harm than good even if the NCAA doesn’t get involved.

right that is how it works. I would bet the vast % of transfers go to schools that recruited them originally.

Yeah or maybe closer to home etc as well.

and these kids can't transfer mid-term.

Oct 26, 2021, 8:19 AM [ in reply to Re: Here are your transfer portal options so far. ]

The earliest they could transfer and enroll would be January.

Look at last years options that would have made a HUGE difference in several positions.

Which ones would you have gone for? Also, that doesn't mean they would choose us, but which ones? Look at it from the standpoint before injuries and much before the season.

Let’s consider the important things…

Obviously you're not going to get as much from the portal now. It's like doing your Christmas shopping on New Years Eve and wondering why you can't get the presents you had hoped. Dabo knew the lack of depth, particularly with the Oline. Snooze you lose
