The refs on the field didn't throw a flag for either one. W.T.F? (Targeted and knocked out of the game no less.)

How?

The league replay official in Greensboro must have been making a sandwich during the first one...

ACC officials are. not. good. Just terrible. When you see a player cradling his head on the ground after a tackle do you even consider taking a look at the replay? Isn't the intent of the rule to ensure player safety?

Just garbage!

2nd one was absolutely targeting. He led with the crown of the helmet into Shipley's head while Shipley was in the grasp. It was textbook targeting.

Helmet to helmet contact with the crown of his helmet. I don't think that play deserves an ejection, but it is certainly targeting by the rule.

Hitting with the crown of the helmet and launching at a defenseless player is absolutely targeting.

In his defense that was more accurate than it should have been a late hit for hitting their QB in bounds.

And every time a Clemson defender makes a big hit the refs on the field call targeting. Thank goodness replay has overturned a few of those.
