I Keep Hearing That The O-Line Is Young....

Sep 28, 2021, 5:56 PM

So what . With the exception of Tate all of the O-Lineman have been in the program
for at least two seasons now . Many have played more snaps at Clemson than they would have
played anywhere else because of Dabo's philosophy of playing folks when he has a big lead .

It's not like these guys got here this summer and are starting on the O-line .

It still comes down to preparation and technique and none of the lineman have shown
that they have taught either. The same goes for the line the last two seasons prior .
Elite defenses killed our O-line ....and Lawrence as well .

Youth on the offensive line is just a convenient excuse.

Just like blaming Caldwell for all of our problems.

Weak sauce.

Is Caldwell getting is scheming from the type of Offense we

have to run though? Even in the national championship games i don't think our line was stellar by any stretch at least if you compared us the other power teams. We dominated the defensive lines and had super star talent at QB. I think DJ has that in him but he's got to modify his decision making and his quickness to get the ball out. Which goes hand in hand with the play calling and getting him some plays that are not long developing and giving him some tempo and mis-direction to help with the amount of time he has to throw.

I'd love to hear Tajh Boyd's assessment of what he thinks. He's on the sidelines and can see it up close.

outperform ours on a routine basis, it does beg the question if coaching/player development is to blame.

Screw Calford.

Consensus is Caldwell has got to go

I'd be willing to see Tony Elliott for another season after this one if Caldwell gets replaced before spring practice.

You realize that there's isn't a single lineman playing in a position they've had those past snaps at, right? What good is it if Bockhorst has experince at guard, and is playing center?

And that is the coaching staff’s fault

For not recruiting the right players and developing the players they have.

It's been an issue. I just don't understand why we don't take 5 OL in every recruiting class. Some aren't going to pan out. But it does amaze me teams like BC seem to always have grown men on the OL.

Here's the way I see it...

Jordan McFadden is a late round draft pick at best

Walker Parks is really talented, but lacks quality size at OT

Paul Tchio is really talented, but has little experience

Matt Bockhorst is undraftable

Will Putnam is undraftable

Backups...

Marcus Tate is really talented, but a true freshman

Mitchell Mayes is really talented, but has little experience

Mason Trotter is undraftable

Hunter Rayburn is undraftable

Trent Howard is undraftable

Bryn Tucker isn't ready

Ryan Linthicum isn't ready

John Williams is hurt

Tayquon Johnson is hurt

Dietrick Penington is hurt

Our starting interior at offensive line consists of two undraftable players and someone with very little experience

Our starting OTs lack size, but will probably be late round draft picks at some point

Our backups are either really young or undraftable
