Travis Etienne Jr...

Jan 27, 2017, 4:00 AM

Hey folks, I live about 15 miles from Jennings, Louisiana, in Crowley, Louisiana. Our high school doesn't play in the Jennings district or classification. I went to 6 of Etienne's games this past season. He's a beast. He was really all that team had and he carried them on his back. Deep into the fourth quarters he seemed to maintain his speed and strength. The best part is he's a very pleasant and modest kid. Comes from a great family and TigerNation will love this guy! When he said "he was going to play in the real Death Valley" he earned his keep. Lsu gets most of this states players so for him to say that was awesome! I REALLY hope we play the Baton Rouge kitty kats again, this time we"ll run 130 plays on them!, lol. Those folks in Baton Rouge should honestly thank us for showing them the formula to take down Bama. As soon as the "real" Death Valley comment was made they got ugly over here, they now hate this kid! Ex players for the mustard colored kitty kats in the Red Stick(that's what Baton Rouge means), immediately began tweeting pictures of their stadium with the seating capacity as if to shut Clemson folks down. It would be funny if it wasn't so pitiful. Again, the definitive book written on Lsu fb declares unequivocally that Clemson was the FIRST to use the term in describing their fb stadium. There is only one Death Valley, and it's near some special hills in the South Carolina upstate!! Period, NEXT!! P.s. Clemson TigerNation had a hand in the incredible win over NC State this past season, and wow!!, Louisville imploded with a raucous Death Valley turning up the volume. Number 8 got ate, and Bobby got Dabo'd!!! Go Tigers!!!!!!!

His highlights remind me of Andre Ellington - one quick cut at the line then go. But he's bigger and faster than Ellington. Great looking kid on film. I am really shocked that it took LSU so long to offer.

Truth is truth and nothing riles people up more than truth.

LSU really should acknowledge that Clemson had the moniker LONG before LSU started using it. Even when LSU started using the term for their stadium, it was called "Deaf Valley", but the imbeciles could not pronounce it correctly.

Clemson does not deny that the team mascot and name were derived from Auburn, but that doessn't matter. But LSU should at least ackowledge who THE REAL DEATH VALLEY belongs to.

Actually, we DO deny it...we are named after Princeton...

Clemson's use of the moniker "Tiger" was research by a Clemson professor and this is what the research showed:

The members of the first (Clemson) team cited two team members as having proposed the Tiger and they also said that it was selected because of Princeton's superb football team. I tell the story and give an obituary citation to the Anderson "Independent" in my vol 1 of "The High Seminary", which is available from the Alumni Association. Whether or not the Alabama A & M college was using a Tiger on or before September 30, 1896 (the date our choice was made) or not, is open to question. Wall Street Journal ran a mascot article some years ago that suggested the "War Eagle", Alabama A& M's earliest "Totem", was called "tiger" and that when the first or second of these birds died, the name slipped onto the school. They placed the date of death around 1905. The first printed "semi-official source" of Auburn's. the "Glomerata", used "tiger" in 1898 for the first time that I have been able to find.

And regarding LSU....

Jan 27, 2017, 9:53 AM

It would appear that LSU started calling themselves "tigers" sometime in the 1896 season but certainly AFTER it was officially adopted by Clemson in September at the beginning of the season.

Tajh Boyd drove a stake into the heart of the LSU program when he connected with Nuk Hopkins on 4th and 16. LSU has not recovered from that single play. It's time they realized that they are no longer relevant.

LOL - JK about most of that, but it was definitely a turning point in their program.

I wish our Athl Dept would market our stadium as

Jan 27, 2017, 9:14 AM

"The ORIGINAL Death Valley". I think I've seen a t-shirt before somewhere that stated that.

Maybe add that to the signage in the stadium: "Clemson Welcomes You to the Original Death Valley"

Nothing LSU could say to combat that.

Possibly make the land at the stadium it's own town named death valley? Probably would be a nightmare legally.

Honestly he seemed nervous and excited

and the "Real Death Valley" just came out of his mouth accidentally. LOL
