I'm 65 in September and won't live long enough to see Carolina catch Clemson in football, if we ever do. I think the Lord comes back before that many years anyway. I lurk here from time to time. I rarely post. I lurk here to enjoy the anguish of Clemson Nation when we are doing well. I've paid my dues since the mid 1960's being a Gamecock fan. Yall have owned us in most everything to do with sports so I've suffered that anguish far longer than most on this board. Yall hate us, we hate yall, hell, thats what makes it so much fun. I don't pull for Clemson and I don't want or expect Clemson fans to pull for Carolina. I lost a 15 year old grandson in 2006 and I was taken to an unrecognizable place. One of grief, hopelesness, and words that haven't been invented. I found new perspective over time and realized that I hate ya, but I'd be first in line if something catostrophic happened at Clemson University and the people there needed help. My best and lontime friend is as Clemson as I am Carolina. WE love each other on a personal note but openly pull against each other and actually enjoy seeing the other one "suffer" when it comes to athletics at our respective universities. I see nothing wrong with that. It's just fun.
Enjoy our defeat in baseball last night. That's what we do. I'd be doing the same. I'm riding high on our recent domination of anything Clemson. It won't last forever and I ain't got that much time. Go Gamecocks! Beat Clemson!

sorry about your grandson's loss. I have 2 grandsons and one grandaughter. I love them all very much. The pain of losing one would just be unimagineable. I would hate for anyone to go through that.

I respect your post, and believe it's in good nature.
However, I'm 40. Your domination in football is a 3 game win streak. In my lifetime, Clemson has done that 5 times. So, with all due respect, a Gamecock's definition of dominance would probably be different than a Tiger's.
In 2005, we had just won 4 in a row, but I wasn't jubilant, I expected it. It's a matter of what you're accustomed to. Most Carolina fans are pl$$ing themselves daily over this 3 game streak.

Most of us do not care about SC enough to anguish when you win. We have been there before - many times, and a little SC win streak does not change history, nor predict OUR future.
IF SC could act like they have been there before (winning), your kind would be more tolerable. But you have not, so the ignorance shows.
I do have an appreciation for most SC posts though. Here and on facebook. Most cannot celebrate without saying something about Clemson. Just can't get past us beating your brains in for a century. And can't have success without validation from us. Else, Coots would not be over here posting.
Sorry about your loss of your grandson. that is sincere. I have children of my own - no grandchildren - but would not know how to handle the day after losing one of them.

Thanks for posting Billy. I've fought in three wars... well, not exactly, but Auburn/Alabama, Ga/Ga Tech and Clemson/USC sometimes seem like it. And I've played the sport. If any of those 6 teams win or lose, it doesn't put a dime in or take a dime out of my pocket. I just enjoy watching the competition, and understand that at the end of the day, most of the athletes respect the guy staring at him through the other face mask.
The older I get, when I find myself rooting against another legitimate athlete that has worked hard for his success, the lesser of a person I feel. I'm a runner now, and it's just me and other runners during a given race. Nobody's rooting against anybody because we all respect the other for what he's going through.
May our tribe increase.

I rarely post, but I repect your post. Sorry for your loss of a grandchild. I could not begin to imagine how that must have felt. Sometimes we lose perspective of what is really important. I support the Tigers in every aspect and have been an IPTAY member for 31 years, but must acknowlege that USC has had our number over the past three years. No one wins all the time and that is what makes a rivalry so much fun. Good luck to a good fan.

Leaving for a while and there may be more responses but I wanted to take the opportunity now to thank all the Tiger fans for their kind words of condolence. I wasn't fishing for them but only wanted to try and put our rivalry in perspective with real life anguish. I think your responses have just reinforced what I was trying to say all along. We hate each other in sports but we all have hearts and care for one another on a personal basis. I am a man of faith and believe my grandson Tyler to be in the place promised to us believers, and he was, in Christ Crucified as the full payment of our sins. He wouldn't want to come back but believe me when I tell you from a human standpoint I would give up 100, 1000, 1000,000 straight defeats to my hated rival for just one day to hug him, smell him, see him and tell him a 1000 times how much I love him. I'm satisfied each one here would do the same thing no matter how much our "hatred" for each other. I expected the banter, appreciate the kind words. I leave as I came, in peace.

A very nice and classy post from CarolinaBilly. I am very sorry to hear of his personal loss.
He is right in that it has been such a long, very long domination of sc in everything. I'm sure the frustration has been hard to contain until the last couple of years. Heck, it's been hard for me over two years. I can't imagine what CarolinaBilly and his buds have gone through for so very long. Just look at the series records in all sports.
Have a good, relaxing, and enjoyable summer CarolinaBilly. You deserve it. You're a good man and a good sport. I appreciate you. Thank you for posting.

I'm 62 and share similar experiences. My brother-in-law is like you - true coot. It's sickening to visit his coot den - makes one want to heave. I have no idea how y'all stand that crap. I was with him at the 63-17 butt-whooping and watched him and his cronies crying in each others' beer.
But, the last 3 years has been payback, and it's been rough on this ol' TIGER. This year - we are gonna stomp some chicken butts and the universe will return to normal.
Good luck chicken dude. I hope you live a very long time, and never, ever see usuc beat CLEMSON at anything. lmao.

billy you seem like a class guy.. sorry for your loss..indeed why I cannot stand South Carolina is most of your fanbase is not as classy as you are.. I have been a Clemson fan since 1974 when my father who graduated from Clemson took me to my first football game...I have seen a lot of crazy things in these years and dealt with a lot of nasty fans... I am not one of them, but in the years that have passed.. gamecock fans have been the rudest..crude and just downright ridiculous on their mouths running and actions of any other fanbase I know of today...Believe me when I say you are few and far between gamecock fan...Everytime I think I can say something nice about Carolina.. one of your fans says or does something to pi$$ed me off...Yes I do delight when you lose and maybe your fanbase hates us some much is we have dominated you in the last decade and more especially in football....your fanbase should take a few notes from you on how to represent their school...take care Billy...enjoyed Arizona beating you last night... Billy, I am 68 so we have about the same history. I am sorry for your loss, no one should have to suffer the loss of a child. I too have a great friend who is a Gamecock and we enjoy the rivalvy. Friendship makes it even more fun. I have never pulled for the Gamecocks and never will, but you sir are a class individual and I salute you. And it sounds like we have a similar relationship. I actually felt sorry for Carolina after the 63-17 beat down. However 2 things have made me doubt I will ever fail to enjoy USuC's future losses:
1. With Spurrier you hired a giant a$$ole that even y'all used to hate.
2. The media is Cootlumbia is so biased and irritating. They lived off that first CWS win loooong past it's useful life
