Cured meats and delicious cheeses with various accoutrements scattered artfully upon a slate or board?
Salamis and salumi, coppa, iberico, prosciutto, braesola, sopressata and serrano, speck and nduja. Or go fresh! Pates, terrines, smoked fish, or rilettes. Cave ripened cheese, covered in volcanic ash or flowers, funky, fresh, tangy, sheep cow goat, one soft, one firm, one approachable, one blue. Pickles, olives, onions, cornichons, mustard, honey, pepper jelly, berries, crackers, baguettes, the possibilities are endless.
Just thinking about it is getting me all hot and bothered.

Me - knows the kids wanted Lunchables while at the store but doesn't want to pay that price and they're pretty gross.
Me - buys deli-sliced ham, crackers, block cheddar and a sleeve of Oreos. Should be a nice surprise for the kids.
Me - Assembles own Lunchables for kids using above.
Kids - "What the #### is this bull####?"
