Announcers said the returner was not defenseless. That is what the SEC review panel said. So the rule is they MUST be defenseless? So helmet to helmet hits all day long? Why was Boulware even flagged for his hit against the BC QB, he wasn't defenseless (and it wasn't even with his helmet)... the rule is just handled so unevenly. Good rule in theory, poorly officiated.

No contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless player or no leading with the crown of the helmet vs any player. So if the player is not defenseless you can have helmet to helmet as long as you do not lead with the crown.



I am at work so I did not see the play, just stating the rule.
