the ACC yesterday. Jim...much of your prattling on was superfluous...
1. Football and $$...and who's bringing in the $$...that's it. If you/the ACC can not wrap your respective heads around that concept...you're unemployed. NOTHING else matters...nothing.
2. Your 'veiled GOR' threat doesn't inspire confidence in your leadership. On the one hand, you recognized change and, yet, this is how it's confronted? This is 'progressive'?
3. Yeah, you like your job and need the ACC to have said job. Well...honestly, you're perpetuating the very problem that has brought the conference to this point.
4. Start seeing things for the way they are, not as they used to be, or how you 'think' they are now. Adapt or 'die'...just like business.

thru 2036 which will have all the ACC schools way behind the 8-ball in revenue and not a factor in competing.
But believe he hinted ACC & ESPN are talking.
NDame is out of the equation imho since they will make a $75,000,000 a year deal with ?NBC & stay independent (good for them).
But, did light his glamorizing the overall greatness of ACC & its history of many accomplishments along with high academics.

When, or if, Clemson decides to leave the ACC...

that 100+ million bucks will look like pennies. Everyone who thinks Clemson should leave the ACC believes that is the major issue blocking the move. I do not. I see spending $100+ mil as an investment according to which conference invites Clemson to join.
Look at this issue from the ACC side, which I'm sure Phillips is doing. What will the ACC be if Clemson shoves all that money up their b down its throat and takes on another uniform patch. ESPN will be wanting a contract review if that happens.
The maroon who gave that speech knows what the ACC looks like without Clemson. He did not like that view.
Now, IMO, I don't care either way. Clemson is going to be here, it's not as if the University is moving to Georgia or Alabama. It's not as if our recruiting or quality of football is going to change. None of my Clemson Brothers and Sisters are defecting from Clemson and staying in the ACC if Clemson changes conferences nor are we or they leaving Clemson to become SEC or B1G fans.
This is a bigger issue with the rest of the ACC than it is with Clemson. If I knew what Clemson leaders wanted I might lean toward wanting it too. IDK.
I've seen Dabo risking wins to manufacture adversity and push his/our players to the limit throughout the last 7-9 seasons. Often he's make either the defense or the offense win the game on the last drive. That rapscallion has driven me to be hard nosed when it comes to being behind on the scoreboard but holding on to the belief Clemson will win. I hold on to that belief in the conference affiliation issue too.
