Why can a college football team not allow a NIL contract to be offered to the entire team and split the proceeds among all those who play. For instance, allow a sponsor to give a million dollars to the team and split the gift with all the guys who make up the team. I think this is similar to what Grambling State has proposed to do. That seems much more fair than allowing one guy to receive a huge payment and no one else gets a payment.

Biggest thing is capping the amount that can be offered. Stupid some of the numbers being floated around for unproven kids coming out of high school.

The argument against this plan is that it is Socialism. But in college sports I think it is a great idea. Players get paid and buying up 5* players stops.

Just wait for all the players flocking to go walk on at the school where Arch Manning signs if this policy gets put into place.
Seems like this could be worse than individual players making money from their name because now the school that gets the most coveted NIL prospects will have tons of guys (scholarship and walk-on) flocking to play with those guys so they can cash in on somebody else's name, image and likeness.

You miss the whole point of NIL. The players become self employed and get any money and nothing goes to the school. If a company, individual or group wants to employ the entire team, that is their right.

I thought Miami has already done that. They had a NIL with some company that paid each player $500
Dan Lambert said in an interview with CaneSport that he is offering Miami's 90 scholarship football players $500 monthly contracts to help promote his well-known American Top Team mixed martial arts training academies, most of which are scattered throughout the state. Players can earn up to $6,000 a year by promoting the gyms through social media, personal appearances and other marketing tactics.

Oh no. What about the walk-one? They already have to pay for college. Seems like they need the most help.

Because Dabo hasn’t set up an NIL program like Beamer at sc has. He thinks he doesn’t need any help from the ZPortal or from NIL but pretty soon it’s gonna be adapt or die and I’m not sure what he’s gonna do.

If we could only reach the level of success that the poultry has achieved down in sandflea land. They cycled right in like Master Todd said they would and we were scared to death of their success. Maybe someday we can lisp our way into a championship, otherwise we’ll have to settle for having a chicken dinner 30-0 at end of every season.

NIL is bad for college football UNLESS all players benefit somehow. I understand that players should benefit from use of their name, I get it. But even so it is bad for the team as a whole. Football is a team sport. I realize some players play much more than others and are more recognizable and get the big NIL deals. It’s not good for the locker room and it’s going to get worse. I agree with Dabo on this one. I just wish there was a way to reward all the players. They all have to work hard to stay on the team.

That's the typical view of a socialist.

That legally defeats the spirit and perhaps the letter of the law allowing players to receive money for their individual likenesses. To rationalize that some system where individual's rights are removed to share his fair wage with others is contrary to our laws regarding private ownership.
Basically, you've just challenged our Founding Father's assertions and concepts for forming America. I have no passion toward the NIL one way or the other but it greatly displeases me that anyone might, through ignorance, not understand the concepts which created the greatest nation ever known to mankind.

I like the idea of putting a pool together to split equally among all of the scholarship seniors on the team (or 4th year +). Something fans could pitch in on and make a thing out of as a show of thanks for going the distance.
