An Innovative and Radical Proposal for 2020 Football Season

Why not let ALL college teams that desire to play this year submit their names to a College Football Playoff Committee. Then, seed the highest 128 teams or appropriate number for those that are applying to play. Then, start a playoff in mid September just like the NCAA Basketball Tournament each March. The initial round of games will be played at the stadium of the higher seed for each game (or lower seed IF the higher seed relinquishes the right to host). IF a team that is scheduled to play desires among themselves (the players, coaches, and University administrators) that they don't want to play, that team can forfeit the game (the same applies IF a team cannot meet the required number of players subject to illness, etc) and be eliminated since the tournament is single elimination. When the remaining number of teams reaches 16 teams, then prospective sites and sports networks can bid for the next round of games on the day following the previous weekend games. In that manner, football can have a playoff similar to the NCAA basketball tournament. EVERY team can then have an opportunity to compete for a REAL National Champion, and none can complain that they were left out of the opportunity to compete. Any suggestions can be voiced at this time!!

The problem with this: It's too logical. You can't bring logic to today's "having a season" or "not having a season".

Basket ball only has the top 68 teams. 128 teams is way to many.

I thought of that possibility, but that's giving anyone a choice/chance to play if they want. Besides, that would ONLY make for a 7 week season including the National Championship Game if there were no open dates. I really wondered how many schools would actually sign up to compete.
