Teams often didn't have "the perfect defense called against our offense" even when we had DW4 and TL16; but they could stop us still.

Nobody can replace Brent Venables! But, perhaps with the lessons learned from BV - the new Clemson defense will have a nice blend of sophisticated when needed - and (player friendly) simple most of the time so they can play fast. With fast players(and we have them especially at LB) they can often make up for a mis-step!

I can't wait to see it!

The proof will be on the field. That being said, as teams got better about tempo, checking at the line of scrimmage, etc we saw more and more our defense looking confused and not getting set up at the line. I don’t know how you prepare for that but I’m hoping there is a default/base play that the players can run if there isn’t a more specific play called. I’m hoping there is something to the simplification and that we might shut some people down. We definitely have the personnel. And please let our offense be complimentary where at least they keep our d off the field for awhile and please please please keep the injury bug away.

This is what I thought about immediately while reading the comments from the player.

Based on the player's comments, it would seem to me that the simplification of terminology would have to make an immediate impact. For instance, a reduction of defensive busts on plays and improving depth by enabling some younger players to grasp concepts earlier in their career.
