Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Nov 15, 2021, 7:49 AM

Friday night, Mexican for dinner, pretty uneventful after that.

Saturday, up early for the game, wonderful time tailgating, game was mostly boring but that was okay. Back home to watch more football.

Sunday, up early to drive around the mountains a little. Back home by 1, did some cleaning and watched the Raiders implode.

Fri - Left work a lil early and put new kayak in the river. Caught 1. Picked up wings and had fam over to celebrate mama's birthday.

Sat - Arrived in Clemson around 9:45. Walked through the Chinook. Watched the whole game from UR. Back home Sat night and watched a little more football.

Sun - Church in the morning, took nephews fishing at a friend's pond, barbequed some burgers and dogs, played a game with MsLovin, watched Raiders and Chiefs for about 45 mins before going to bed.

Friday’s highlight was lunch at Big Daddy’s

Saturday was a glorious day in Tiger Town. The game itself may have been meh, but the weather, pageantry, and fellowship was glorious
Got home in time to fix a delicious meal of salmon, broccoli, and pickled beets.

Sunday was typical lunch with mom and them and she’s getting over her bad chest cold so that was nice. A retired history professor from Furman joined us for lunch so that made the conversation nice.

It was a really wild weekend, for sure.

Saturday met friend at Twin Peaks. Hit his pipe a few times. Watched FSU-Miami. Packed with fans of both.

Sunday. Rode bike. Read. Watched preview of Let it Be Doc on 60 Minutes.

Friday - worked late.
Saturday - studied, planted a tulip bed in the front garden, grilled some pork chops and watched some TV. Beautiful day to be outside.
Sunday- had a nice long coffee morning, then Queen and I walked through Myers Park and hung out at the Duke Mansion for a bit.
Pretty laid back weekend with great weather.

Friday...don't remember

Saturday...had some friends from Aiken coming to visit, so made big grocery store run to stock up on food and beer. Good food, beer, lots of football, lots of laughs...

Sunday...cooked a big breakfast spread for guests. Confirmed griddle can hold 3 packs of bacon and still room for eggs, hashbrowns, etc... Friends left and watched NFL all day. Fantasy team had secured a win by 2nd qtr of late game, so hit the bed relatively early.

You going to Wake game this weekend? Me and son-of (and maybe daughter-of) are going and trying to upgrade parking spot and do a tailgate, etc... Reached out to Byers as well. Saw where JBC is not going.

Friday finished PT, but have lots of homework to do still. Poot.
Got pizza from local spot, was pretty good.

Saturday Dad came up and we went to football game. A little tailgating, great weather. Met son-of and buddy at tailgate. Thanks to bengaline for hooking up friend of mine with tickets.

Sunday picked up Son-of and went for nice hike at Oconee State Park. Leaves were amazing. Finished that end of Foothills Trail so neato for me, now I have the tricky boat-access part in the middle to get through. Dinner with Wife-of at Topsoil in TR. Our first time there, nice spot.

Survived it.

Nov 15, 2021, 8:53 AM

Friday, headed to Mom's to fix her supper. Then Mrs. and I rode to Fort Mill to have a beer and watch the acoustic set from Charlotte Southern rockers Little Johnny Trailer Trash for a couple of hours. Those cats were having fun and people kept buying them shots, so they maybe weren't as sharp as they would be sober, but they were fun to watch. Back over to Mom's to get her to sleep and lock up the house, then home for a nightcap and crash.

Saturday, up for coffee and walk the pup, then to Mom's to watch the M*A*S*H vs. UCONN game. Guess I'll download a roster this week so I know who is playing since we're down to non-preferred walk-ons. Back home after the game and went to Aldi with Mrs. to see what they have, haven't been in an Aldi in years. Found a few good things, then back home to walk the pup, then off to Sonic to get Mom a burger. Got all the way back to her house and realized they left out half the order, so called and they had it waiting as soon as I got there. Should have checked the bag. Ate with Mom then back home to grab bass, off to band practice to start working up a set for our mid-December private party gig. Good practice, home to crash around 1am.

Sunday, slept in, many cups of coffee, then over to check on Mom. Then off to grocery for the regular run, back home to walk the pup. Then Mrs. wanted to go to Academy and do a little Christmas shopping, so rode with her and scored a pair of Sperry Floats for $25 off the clearance rack. Back home to eat burgers for the second day in a row (because that's what Mrs. cooked while I was out with the pup) then cleaned up kitchen and watched The Walking Deads, then crashed.

Looks like one more week of back and forth to Mom's all weekend, I'm almost glad football is over for that reason. I hate that her days of going to games looks like it's over...I'm not sure anybody has lived for Clemson football the way she has.

Anyway...18.65/19 Covids.

not bad - had some family in town

Nov 15, 2021, 8:54 AM

fri - dad got in town for pre-emptive thanksgiving / meeting his grand daughter. cooked some sausage dogs w/ peppers and onions

sat - mostly just hung around the house. dad got to play with dawghater2baby which was cool. cooked some awesome food - venison sausage / egg bowl for breakfast; queso / beef / rotel extravaganza for snack; grilled wangs to finish it off.

dad said he was happy to be next to me for the game so his phone wasn't going apehsit lolz

sun - YUGE day - FINALLY got my TV hardwired to ethernet and dad helped. long story short, there was an ethernet plug in my closet where the builders had already pre-wired speaker wire and an hdmi plug from the tv mount. didn't realize this until a couple weeks ago.

we cooked prime rib for thanksgiving which was off the chain. dad rolled out early afternoon.

finished off weekend w/ some sheet wrastlin and yellowstone

Meh, still working on Super Cold #2, week #2

Nov 15, 2021, 8:54 AM

This weekend features wife and middle son laid out. Middle son ran decent fever for a day, sniffled and basically hung with wife. Oldest son is in charge of diaper notifications and other smell duties, as the parents can't smell crap. Literally.

Clemson won so there's that.

HOWEVER, I did get a really cool pellet grill and assembled the outdoor fire pit. Still no bourbon as it's kinda pointless savoring a nice two finger pour of bourbon when you can't taste or smell ####.

Overall 8/10 because cool smoker and fire pit all assembled, plus Clemson won. Cleaned out some of the garage, until I tapped out. Enough to stash the smoker though. I think it was Obed lamenting on my garage organization score. It's up to a 6.5/10 from a 3.5, I think, maybe, hopefully.

A blur.

Nov 15, 2021, 9:03 AM

Friday: worked later than I would have liked to. I'm getting closer and closer to moving on. Home for chili baked potatoes. We were going to watch a movie but couldn't find one that interested us. C-.

Saturday: I woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep. Once the family woke up, I cooked pancakes. Wife worked so took sonof to the farmer's market and a new butcher. Picked up some good stuff. Some yard work and football while son of napped. Didn't watch the Clemson game because ACC Network. Went for a walk. Cooked chicken and pastry for dinner and it turned out well. Solid B.

Sunday: bacon and biscuits before church. Church. Bought a tv. Tried the brisket at chipotle. Not bad but I wouldn't get it again. The sauce they use is too sweet. Played Mr. Mom again while wifeof went to a baby shower. I planned on watching the replay of UConn but decided it wasn't worth the time. Cooked sourdough homemade pizza with some meatballs I picked up at the butcher. Turned out well. Hung the new TV which took about 5 times longer than it should have due to our old mount being ancient. A-.

Overall: good food, good time with son, nice (chilly) weather. However, not very productive, not a lot of football. B.

what tv did you end up getting?

Nov 15, 2021, 9:26 AM

we got the Samsung Q8 series 65"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: what tv did you end up getting?

Nov 15, 2021, 10:47 AM

Insignia 55 inch FireTV. It was the 2021 model but I can't recall the exact model number offhand. They were sold out of the TCL and Samsung I had my eyes on. I know I could have ordered and had those delivered, but I was at the point I just wanted to go ahead and get the TV bought and hung to get it off my to do list.

The price was right, it had good reviews, and the picture quality was fine for what we'll use it for. We use Firesticks on other TVs so we were comfortable with that interface. After using it, I actually prefer the interface on this TV to the Samsung. We have a soundbar so the speakers weren't a concern. Per Best Buy, Insignia TVs are the exact same devices as Toshiba tvs, just with a different label slapped on. I don't know if that's true but it made me more willing to buy it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

T'was a good one - kind of Michigany Sportishy

Nov 15, 2021, 9:07 AM

Friday - grabbed my son from school and we went to get him some new snow skis. Picked up Carrabba's take out for everyone and went home and hunkered down. Put kids to bed and watched some Longmire. Really cold night.

Saturday - woke up to a call from a bud. He has some amazing tickets to the MSU vs Maryland game, leaving at 1pm. So my wife went for a long run and I took the kids to breakfast. Then the kids and I headed over to REI as the were having a sale. I grabbed me a new jacket and it t'was a warm one that came in handy at the game. Drove out to the game in an RV, so we watched the Clemson game on the way.
That was fun. Tailgated and then went to the game and stayed till about 4th quarter. Then we headed out to the local bar/hangout. Did that for a while and ate nachos, chicken fingers, sliders....basically anything they had on the menu. Got back to hometown and we hit the pub here, then I got home about midnight.

Sunday - a little hanky panky as kids were at grandparents. Went for a run with the wife, got ready for church and then mets kids and grandparents at church. Did that thing, then went to GameStop and got a Nintendo Switch for my son for Christmas and then went over to Target and got a Barbie Dream House for my daughter. That is 3/4 of Christmas shopping done in like an hour. My wife was proud. By this time the hangover is REAL and my head is on fire. Wife takes daughter to swim lessons, so my son and I laid on the couch and slept on and off watching the Lions/Steelers game. After that, we went over to the Mall to see Hassan Haskins and get his autograph and let me little man meet a big man. It was cool and Haskins seems like a really good dude. Back home for some rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes and some biscuits.

Monday - reset the clock. here we go.....another chaotic week ahead.

My phone has a cracked camera lens, so very much a bengaline pic fest

My son has a grown collection. We have 5 full size helmets in the basement. I think I have a helmet problem with my shoe problem.

Just did some chores around the house myself and took it easy. Took down a backyard treehouse that was long overdue, but sad in an "end of an era" kind of way. Tried the new Hendrick's Orbium release gin----elements of Wormwood so it almost has that anise absinthe flavor....quite good but would never become my gin go-to.

Nov 15, 2021, 9:43 AM

go play a little golf and hit up the strip club. After drinking all day and doing some blow all night, we ended up leaving the strip club around 5 AM (oops). Got home and hit the sheets. Wife woke me up to some head and then we grabbed some lunch with the kids. Didn't watch the Clemson game cause I cannot deal with that and then took the wife out for dinner and hired a babysitter. Got back and the babysitter had gotten the kids to bed so we did lots of adult things all over the house. Went to sleep and slept late on Sunday. Took the kids and wife to run some errands and then hit the bar while they went home. Watched NFL for a few hours and caught an Uber home. Slid in the sheets in just enough time to watch Yellowstone and chill and slept. Now I am up at work and really feeling this hangover.

Nov 15, 2021, 9:58 AM

Thursday - headed out to HHI (Ohio South) as previously mentioned. Aunt Chilada's for Taco Thursday ($3 tacos and $3 Sol beers/margaritas). Was really good in spite of what others think.

Friday - played golf at Bear Creek. Course was not great, but round came with a meal voucher for lunch and a drink. Had fish and chips and a nice IPA draft. Fish and chips was AMAZING so the meal made up for the golf. Pre-tourney party at Frosty Frog cafe, then back home for hijinks.

Saturday - played tourney at The Golf Club at Indigo Run. Brother and I played just ok but the golf course is really good, so had fun. Had a cigar as previously mentioned. Don't smoke them often but when the guy you are playing with is almost a billionaire and gives you cuban, you take it and smoke it. Drank some beers after the round, then tourney supper at Olde Oyster Factory. Had the surf and turf, a glass of red wine and a couple old fashions. Back to house for more hijinks.

Sunday - b'fast at Hilton Head Diner, was just ok. Waffle House would have been a better choice. Tired af so chilled on the island for just a little bit before taking on the drive home. Back home to pick up the kid, eat, get her to bed and crash.

Monday - Up early because have to get the kid to school early so I can be at work to do an inventory. Get up and personal with some nuclear material 55 gallon drums, but I'm done having kids so roasted nuts is not a problem.

TLDR - golf, drinks, cuban, good food, radiation. 10/10.

Swanky dinner at Saluda's Friday night. Fried oysters, grilled scallops and seared ahi tuna. Nice bottle of pinot. Archery Summit, "Dundee Hills" Willamette, 2018. Was awesome. Ubered home with a great driver. Got home and had a couple more drinks. Fooled around. Went to sleep.

Saturday made breakfast for everyone and then played outside with my daughter while the game was on the garage TV. When wife of got back went and took the Halloween crap to storage and picked up the Christmas stuff. Cooked some huge fat Ribeyes for dinner. They were so thick I cooked em at 225 indirect until they got up to 115 internal and then stoked the egg to sear and finish them at about 125. Baked potatoes on the side. Was magic.

Sunday up and out to breakfast with daughter and son and wife and then dropped the kids off and wife and I hit home depot for some Christmas crap. Replaced ugly fake tree Wife of likes to use for kids ornaments with a nicer new one and bought an inflatable. Smoked some chicken thighs and breasts and then seared them crispy to finish. Wife made mac and cheese and filed peas to go with. Had a fire in the solo stove and drank a couple nice pulls of bourbon. Refused to put up any christmas stuff til after thanksgiving. Watched a movie and hit the sack.

Sunday: Went to church, picked up MfOjr. Went hunting. Saw eight point but jr. never got a clean shot. Exciting for both of us. Cooked pizza, built fire, shot basketball, played tickle match. Read, bed.
