Rewatched the game and here’s my 2 cents (long)

Sep 5, 2021, 9:19 AM

Guys who were out/limited:
Lyn J (2nd half still not as much)
T. Davis
F. Davis
Turner

All starters but we knew about this going into the game.

Guys who need/will improve:
DJ, Running backs, and Oline

DJ had some opportunities to flee the pocket but this was one of the toughest defenses we’ll play. OLine got destroyed by 3 lineman most of the time so it’s hard to pin it all on him. If Oline improves DJ will flourish and yes I agree some of the offensive play calls were bad but Oline was getting broken down with 7 sacks and no run game its a tough game to call especially with our most explosive RB out for most of the game.

Guys who impressed me:
Ngata, Ruke & Williams, D Line, Mukuba, Goodrich

Ngata you showed us all the hype you had coming out of HS and man did you ball. Ngata made some great catches and if he stays healthy will be a monster. Shout out to Williams and Ruke who went against one of the biggest OLine we’ll go against truly did great. Mukuba is a star ready to breakout. He played great and was all over the place. Had some hard hits and was wherever the ball went. Goodrich played pretty well. Not bad coverage at all but he came off blocks well and made some great tackles against these RBs. Also shout out to all the defensive veterans they all played great too.

In the end, I can’t be mad how the game turned out. Defense played lights out and if you compare it to 2020 team we’ve lost:

Offense: T Law, ETN, Rodgers, Powell, 2 Oline Starters, Mellusi, Bowman

Defense: Jordan Davis, Nyles Pinckney, Mike Jones Jr, DK

Guys who were limited/out:

Lyn J (limited), F. Davis, T. Davis, Turner

That’s a lot of guys gone for a top 5 match up like this and in the end I’m impressed on defensive side of things and really surprised. Offense needs to get better and if/when they do I’m telling you this team will be something serious.

Defense was fine. UGA’s offense only scored 3 points. UGA had only 10 points total. And yet we lost.
Defense was not the problem.

Agreed never was

Ether way I was impressed how defense played with key starters out and with the guys we lost in transfer portal. Loved every bit of defense last night.

The question is

Sep 5, 2021, 9:24 AM

will we get better to the point to handle a matchup against Bama, Ohio St. and GA at the end of the year. We’ll look great the rest of the year.

Yes and I say that with ease

I think UGA has one of the best offenses in the league their recruiting and T portal is starting to pay off. Holding them to 3 is mighty impressive. It’s up to the Oline and TE to go to the next step which I think will happen but we just have to find our true identity after losing T Law and the rest of the fire power we had on O last year.

That WR Ngata is a dang hellava ball player. He was the best receiver on your team yesterday.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Appreciate that

Sep 5, 2021, 9:35 AM

Yes, Ngata has been a star ready to break out but injuries has got to him pretty hard. Great hands and a physical beast

Andrew Booth was a baller last night.

Daniels never threw to his side of the field because he knew what would happen.

How do you keep Gamecocks out of your yard?
• Put up goal posts
What does a Gamecock grad call a Clemson Tiger grad in 2 years?
• Boss

Booth played amazing

Sep 5, 2021, 9:36 AM

He had a key tackle in open space that could’ve been bad. It could’ve been a 20+ yard run but ended up being a 4th down because of him. In Booth we trust
