Those lovely tariffs Trump threw down have increased consumer costs by $51 Billion annually......at least.

He's only replaced the tariffs on European steel and aluminum and Japanese steel with a tariff-rate quota system, but has kept in place the tariffs for most other countries, including China.
The point is about the anti-globalist, so-called America-first crowd who are the first to cry about trade deals, then are the loudest to cry when they get smacked in the mouth with higher prices.

After all, look at the mess we are in now. Rely on China for basic stuff ? Much of their stuff is junk anyway.
Take care of your own first.

Are you denying that the tariffs have led to significant
May 24, 2022, 11:41 AM

cost increases for U.S. businesses and consumers? Because, buddy, I got some facts. You ready for another wrong of being wrong?
"Contrary to Trump’s claims, that money didn’t “[come] into the USA.” The products came in, but the money was already here. It was transferred as a tax from importers—U.S. producers, U.S. wholesalers, and U.S. retailers—to the U.S. government. By raising the costs of manufacturing inputs or final goods purchased by U.S. importers, the tariffs—in every case—amount to an increase in U.S. producers’ costs of production and/?or an increase in Americans’ cost of living. Businesses were made less profitable (which means less investment and less hiring) and individuals and families experienced lower real income, on account of higher prices (which means less consumption and less savings).
...The bottom line is that the costs of Trump’s tariff are being shouldered by U.S. businesses and consumers. Producers and consumers of exactly what can be discerned from the table above."
You can dig through the article for the particulars if you want.

Trump’s tariffs, along with lower corporate taxes, and less regulation was designed to bring production back to the U.S. Imagine a USA that produces its own baby formula, semiconductors, medical supplies, etc.
Now we have tariffs, promises of higher taxes, and more regulation than ever, under this idiot in chief.
But, please keep blaming Trump in your idiotic posts; it’s entertaining.

Did you use the words tariffs, lower taxes and less regulation in the same sentence about a positive outcome economic design?
That's rich. Tariffs are both taxes and regulation.

And moreover, that if it did, we would not have these issues?
Because that is literally what you were implying by saying, ""Imagine a USA that produces its own baby formula..."

Yes. Tariffs on imports, lower taxes and less regulation for domestic corporations. It’s a very common practice to build wealth. Econ much?
