Southern California Edison

Oct 11, 2013, 12:15 PM

Does anyone on the board work for S. Cal. Edison?

My wife dreams of moving to California b/c the Phoenix valley isn't really working out for us. She has a friend that has a connection with SC Edison which may or may not pan out for my employment but I'm wondering what kind of company they are. I know back east the utility company is a GREAT job to have but each company is different.

How are the benefits, pay, etc. Is SC Edison a good company to work for that takes care of their people?

My wife works for Consolidated Edison

But that is in NYC, and not California. Pretty sure this is not helpful.

I worked for Commonwealth Electric in MA

And this also will be of no help.

Though siriusly, where in CA would the job be? Despite the
negative rhetoric CA is an awesome place. Cost of living
will be way higher around San Francisco or Silcon Valley.

Traffic is worse in LA County, but if you pick your spots
you can avoid it.

From my experience utilities pay well and have good security.

Corporations are people. So is Soylent Green.

not exactly sure. first priority is to see if i'd even entertain working for this company, then see where they are based. considering a high-up is a member of this particular golf course where my wife's friend works i assume they have some operations near Costa Mesa but that is strictly an assumption

I've got a friend who goes to SCE

Oct 11, 2013, 12:24 PM

Clever-let's go bigger picture here together

Oct 11, 2013, 12:30 PM

If things aren't working out in Phoenix, moving to California is only going to make things worse.

*Taxes are higher
*Cost of living is horrible
*You are a little bit closer to China
*That place is INFESTED with thug punk meximerican bros wearing snapback hats and Dodgers jerseys

You need to face your problems in Phx and deal with them. Moving won't solve them.

If you disagree, please list all of your issues/problems in a reply, and the good people of this forum will be able to empathize and possibly offer sufficient remedies.

FYI there are some wealthy individuals in here that have solved problems for folks before.

haha! thanks for putting out the offer but money won't solve my problems with the area.

I know cost of living will be insane but my wife is a pretty successful cosmetologist and if she were to bag any wealthy clients in souther cali she could support us and i'd work for benefits and tailgate money lol.

we both have a lot of reasons why phx isn't working out for us. a big one is the climate and geography. I miss grass and woods (i'm from SC for goodness sake) and she misses the ocean.

we moved here for family purposes and it's just not working out

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's a great company to work for.

Oct 11, 2013, 12:30 PM

Go for it

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, sure. You move to a ####hole like Santan Valley,

Oct 11, 2013, 12:30 PM

away from all the people, and Arizona's not gonna work out for you.

And, for the record, those of us in the Valley don't consider you Pinal County knuckle-draggers to be a part of us.

Also, I'm going to guess you've been in AZ less than a year

Oct 11, 2013, 12:36 PM

and haven't experienced the Arizona winter yet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Also, I'm going to guess you've been in AZ less than a year

Oct 11, 2013, 3:16 PM

true. moved here in February.

but a mild winter isn't going to go far enough to resolve my issues with this area.

If you were REALLY clever...

you'd quickly figure out that you live in the desert, and deserts are a great place to bury bodies.
