Two points:

1. That contract was likely almost complete before the alliance was considered.

2. The purpose of the Alliance is not to remove all SEC OOC games. The goal is to make OOC more appealing for TV providers. That means replacing the FCS/Group of 5 games not the existing Power 5 opponents.

Replacing LSU with Boston College doesn't help. Adding Boston College to replace San Jose State along with BC does help. If the three conferences have an agreement to play 28 games each season they can guarantee it when they come to the table. Even better if they treat it like the ACC/B1G challenge and can guarantee top 10 matchups.

In my opinion this is a "bad start" , and I disagree that the alliance does/should not intend to blackball SEC schools on the out of conference schedule. In the "Skanky" game it is dog eat dog.

The Alliance can be most effective by,
1. All conferences go to an 8 game conference schedule
2. Each team in the alliance should play a rotating team each of the other 2 conference and a 3rd where agreed between alliance schools out of rotation.
3. Alliance should cap membership to 16 teams each without a majority vote of the 41 to go further
4. Drop Bowl arrangements with SEC teams and replace with Alliance, Group of 5, or independents except for the BCS bowl groupings (gives us chance to play more of the worthy 41 teams out of rotation and keep any bowl money in house.
5. Drop SEC vs Alliance rivalry games.

Summary only place we alliance teams should see a SEC team is in CFP and New years 6 Bowls. Let them play themselves all season.

Alliance should pick up the Clemson way of thinking about SC as their attitude towards the SEC. "What is Bad for SC athletics is good for Clemson athletics."
"What is bad for the SEC athletics, is ghood for the alliance athletics."

Of course , you will need to check back with me if we decide to join the SEC :)

If the alliance is to work then what you have here must happen. The SEC must feel "left out".... Unfortunately I do not believe that will happen and so the alliance will ultimately have little impact on the SEC.

With the voting power of the alliance the SEC may not feel left out but marginalized. 2 teams in a 8 team playoff is a reduction for the SEC and increase for everyone else.

Also I think people under appreciate the academic values of the Alliance. They want to promote the value of the student athletes and are willing to sacrifice some revenue to do so. That is something the SEC and Texas have never seemed to let get in the way.

Alliance or not, that game and the fan base/team/school contrast will make for one heck of a fun weekend in Vegas.
