Next weekend the Tigers will have an important game with that team from Raleigh who can be such pests!
That particular Saturday is also a big day for one particular Tiger other than a football victory for him. I learned back in the early Spring that there is a gentleman in my area of N.C.who is perhaps our oldest living alumni. If he isn't the oldest he is certainly in the top one per cent! This great Tiger will be celebrating his 100th birthday on the Friday night before the game with the Wolfies. With the help of the Alumni Association and the Hickory Clemson Club we are planning a BIG celebration for this graduate of the class of 1936. His daughter is coming in from California to be with her father on this memorable weekend and we really want to recognize this wonderful gentleman.Briefly, he was a Lt. Col. in the Army and served in both WW 2 and the Korean War, winning medals in both encounters. His military career lasted more than 20 years. He also was an ROTC professor after his career ended and became a very successful swimming coach before he retired from Hickory High. Obviously he is an avid Clemson (and Dabo) fan and looks forward to every game. Dabo has signed a football and Tiger Rag to be presented to the Colonel at this party. If any of you care to send him a card prior to the 30th I will be glad to post his name and mailing address. He lives alone in an assisted living home and he is everyone's favorite. I'll let you know how the evening goes. It is a surprise party and I know he will be estatic. GO TIGERS.
