Multiple recruits and their families are raving about

Feb 2, 2022, 10:35 AM

what a straight shooter Spiller is and how much they respect him.

Add in the fact that the rb position group was probably our most improved position group throughout the season, despite losing several veteran rb to transfer and I'd have to say that Spiller has far exceeded expectations in his first season coaching.

Don't say that too loud because all the Lyn J lovers will be upset because you know Spiller ran him off. Lol

All I have to say is that any players that think Spiller

Feb 2, 2022, 10:58 AM

is being to hard on them could have never played for Danny Ford, and they'd have probably run off a lot sooner with him too.

I have heard several players that played for Ford say they looked forward to games because they were so much easier than practice. It was different time for sure. The hard nosed approach from the past would be considered abuse in today’s world.

I use to go watch practice when Ford was coach. He would grab a kid by the face mask and pull him in face to face and give him a talking to if you know what I mean. Now remember Danny always had about a half a pack of chewing tobacco in his mouth. The first thing the player would do when Danny let him go was take off his helmet and wipe all that tobacco spit off his face. Funny as hell.

Absolutely, Danny Ford didn't win the games that he won at Clemson bc he had leisure of recruiting top recruits, his teams won mostly bc they were the toughest team on the field in every game, and that is why we would hardly ever see one of Fords teams getting out scored by large margins, the teams that we played back then had to work for every yard gained. If coaches coached today the way they did back then, they would be getting sued everyday, and the FB programs would be shut down for coaching abuse. Male Kids today are softer than any of the women we use to marry or date back in the day when men were real men, and the women wasn't no way near as soft as men are today. My mom, and my aunts back then would kick the chit out of most of todays men, and all of todays women.

This is the absolute truth, when my mom went to work everyday, she had to pack a diaper bag, and baby milk bottles to take care of me and my sister from a wooden box my daddy made, and strapped in the passenger seat of the log truck that she drove 5 days a week, and sometimes on Saturday. And my daddy would take my older brother on his over the road long distance truck. Kids these days don't have a clue of how hard it was for most families, especially before the early 70s....

I’m not as quite as bitter and old as you are, but I will say my grandparents on my mom’s side were farmers and they were tough as nails and would laugh at you if you came to them with a scrape or a cut. The helicopter parenting of the last 20 years and today makes me sick to my stomach, and is why so many kids grow up to be such big babies. Even recently I was butchering a whole chicken in my kitchen and some of my neighbors kids came in just to watch me do it , and it totally grossed them out, and I couldn’t believe it

after players had screwed up or gave poor effort.

Heard the very same thing from players even when coach Ford was still the HC. Players would say that they looked forward to game day bc playing the game was much easier than the practices getting ready for a game. To the Ford players, game day was always an easy day!!!

You have experienced life until a football coach has grabbed your face mask, slung you around and told you how pathetic you are, then makes you a starter.

I used to get into practices when Spiller was there. I will

it's great to hear though. I hadn't heard this before.

During the season, I heard it from folks on our support

staff and later saw it in interviews on another site. However, just since last weekend when we had elite junior day, more parents have mentioned it.

I think being straight-up is the way to go recruiting-wise.

#1. It's the right thing to do
#2. Great in the long-term

I love hearing this. To me Spiller is the most valuable player in Clemson's history, and this news makes me believe I'd love to see him become one of our coordinators or our head coach one day.

I agree that CJ coming to Clemson was the spark that started the fire. Dabo believed he could get CJ when Tommy Bowden thought he was just wasting his time and CJ believed in Clemson when he had no real reason to. He came here on faith and helped build what we are today.

This is great to hear. I like CJ as well. I think he did an awesome job coaching our running backs up all year. I for one, hope we offer more than one running back at a time waiting on a commitment. It wasn't a huge need this year as we got three beast of backs. Next year we definitely need a big commitment.

LOL out loud. Not at you, though. TOS has a thread where the OP is so disappointed in CJ's recruiting. He said that he just can't land the highly regarded recruits, or something to that effect.

Thanks for sharing.
