Why all the low scores in College Basketball?

Few games go over 130 pts.
Few open shots and many of those are bricks. What's going on?

They tried to "fix" it with the freedom of movement crap last year but that just resulted in free throw shooting contests so they scrapped it halfway through the year.

130 points?

You make it sound like that's the norm. I honestly don't think I remember a game ever getting to that, let alone going over without multiple overtime periods.
Maybe you're thinking NBA. I love it personally. Unlike those "professionals", these kids are held to the standard that they have to play tough defense in order to see time on the court. Very enjoyable to see good offense and defense, not just a bunch of kids trying to put up statistics like in the pros.

233 teams in the nation are averaging at least 65 points a game.
The over under average this season is 141.4 points per game.

officiated. Violations simply aren't enforced nearly as strictly as they once were, and the result is a more physical game that relies more on brute force and raw athleticism and less on skill and teamwork, which leads to an ugly, more frantic struggle as opposed to a beautiful, organized flow.

In the 74-75 season, we had 28 players "foul out" (our

opponents had 24 DQs), and we averaged 80 pts per game. How many players get DQ'd on fouls nowadays?
Honestly, I think it all starts on the offensive side - players are allowed to walk and jump up and down with the ball, and to carry the ball at will, all of which creates offensive players that are nearly impossible to guard. To compensate, defensive players are allowed to hack and grab excessively, not to mention push each other all over the place and go over the back almost at will. This all adds up to a very ugly game played at a ridiculously frenetic pace. If refs just called the game the way it is supposed to be, by the book, we'd have a much better game instead of a dressed up version of street ball.

it's all about the dunk and the 3. and the percentages for 3's are not good. plus, the art of ft shooting for a lot of teams is horrendous. the best players are the ones that can hit the pull up j from 10-14. listen to bobby knight - he's spot on.

and averaged 86.6 points/game for the season. Had games in which we scored 133, 128, 120, 110 twice, 108, 104, etc.

My soph year, and probably the best all around sports year in CU history. Football team was 8-3 and our first bowl game in 20 years (the beginning of our run thru the 80's), baseball team went to the College World Series, soccer team ranked #1 most of the year and made the Final Four, etc. At that time we could have pretty much challenged any school in the country... just pick a sport and send your team down to little old Clemson SC... we'll smoke their nuts and send them back home.

More good players, more emphasis on defense, poor fundamental development of young players (grade school), poor shooting fundamentals, too much time spent dunking instead of honing skills, poor passing/rebounding skills. Other than that, they're fine.
