You should be very happy right now. With the start we've had, the setup is in. If Brad were to blow the rest of the season and not make the Big Dance then you probably get your wish.

I do want to be clear. I want us to make the Big Dance. My point was that with such a great start, we would probably have to have a colossal collapse not to make it and that might be the final nail. Sometimes you can be a victim of your own early success. Hopefully, this is not the case.

Not really. Clemson basketball typically does fairly well in ACC play. Well enough to make the NCAAT. It's been the non-conference that has caused issues.

500 in the ACC no longer guarantees an NCAA tournament berth.
The ACC is diluted and weak some years so the early nonconference counts more.
The nonconference schedule was decent but the 2 bad losses will hurt.
We need 2 good wins to make up for them and IMO we don't have them yet. Otherwise, we need a really gaudy conference record.
While I'm thrilled by the ACC wins most likely we will have a multi game losing streak at some point.

I agree with you. This year, .500 isn't good enough. If this team goes 5-10 the rest way, they wouldn't deserve to make it anyway. This looks like a 15-5 or 14-6 type team, which should be a lock for the NCAAT.

If he gets us to the tournament I’ll be happy and eat crow and all that. If he doesn’t then it will be more of the same. Your post is kind of like saying with all due respect sir or bless your heart. Just because you said it, the blow won’t be any less hard. And I doubt any and if so certainly not many of true Clemson fans want to lose just to fire him.

I'm not sure I really understand your point. My point was that at the beginning of the season, the expectations were fairly low so falling below expectations were not likely. As we've had a great start and early success, the expectations are now elevated to the point that missing the tournament would be viewed negatively. So, if you want Brad out, his early success might bother you but the reality is the pressure to perform is now only greater, and falling short would be viewed as a bigger disappointment now than it would have been at the beginning of the year.
My comment was not a shot or even an opinion. I just thought it was an interesting distinction to be made.

It would be an interesting call for Neff to make. On the one hand, the current contract runs through the 25-26 season so I wouldn't see a big rush necessary to sign an extension right away but on the other hand, BB would have made the tournament in 3 of the last 5 years which is a nice run that might deserve some kind of reward.

If he made it more than twice in 12 years Brad would be adored.
The "Brad haters" (as you call them are the "Clemson basketball lovers" and want to see better than the past results.
What's more important to you? The coach or Clemson??

So, I guess one question to ask might be is if people can actually get better, hire better assistants, and recruit better talent than maybe they have in the past. As I mentioned earlier if he makes the tournament this year that will be 3 of the last 5 years which would seem to indicate that Clemson is benefiting and the program is getting better.
If we are give him all the blame for all the years we missed out then we have to also be willing to give him some of the credit when things get better.
