For those who STILL have their heads in the sand…….

you know who you are......you'll be the first to respond with a TD or "coot" comment or somewhere in between.
A few requests, but first……just a quick comment on the Orange Bowl……..Imagine if Tennessee had played with their #1, #2, & #3 offensive weapons………….OUCH!
Alright, now on to the BIG PICTURE…..something many of you people CAN’T see regarding Clemson Football over the last 3-4 years.
1. STOP telling fans to be GRATEFUL that we don’t have a Tommy West/Bowden coached program. That’s a loser’s mentality used as a deflection, so you don’t have to discuss the REAL issues plaguing this team/program.
2. STOP saying our program isn’t SLIPPING!.............The last THREE seasons (2020-2022) we’ve lost 8 GAMES………..that’s the same amount of games that we lost the previous SIX seasons (2014-2019) and yes that includes the 2014 season we had before our “ELITE” run (2015-2018)……………The last 3 seasons (2020-2022) we are 2-5 against OOC Power5 teams……….ONE of those losses was in the CFP………………….the prior 3 seasons (2017-2019) we were 9-2 against OOC Power5 teams BOTH losses in the CFP.
3. STOP saying we have “GREAT COACHES” ……Dabo’s 2 BEST hires in his tenure here at Clemson was Chad Morris and Brent Venables……BOTH outside the program. The nepotism of his hires the last 3-4 years is helping to destroy everything he built. The echo chamber on the offensive side of the ball is deafening and that’s what happens when you hire a bunch of YES men with no outside P5 coaching experience that played for you or Clemson…………and defensively, the jury’s still out on Goodwin I guess, but he did less with more as good as anybody this year, so there’s that.
4. STOP saying we have the offensive talent to be ELITE……..that’s utterly laughable. There were drives in the Orange bowl when we still “had a chance” where we went 5 Wide………Turner, Swinney, Brinningstool, Allen or Williams, and Shipley…………..#1 our Drew Swinney should NEVER be in our 2-deep WR rotation…….EVER……..#2 our WRs the last 2-3 years couldn’t hold our 2015-2018 WRs jock strap……….except for Williams. This is a coaching, recruiting, & Development issue.
5. STOP saying we don’t NEED the portal……….you sound stupid. No, we don’t need to Build from the portal, but we need to get a few IMPACTFUL players from the portal, not some free masters degree scholarship handout that never see the field………….fun fact: 5 of our last 6 OOC P5 losses have been to transfer QBs, so NO!! transfers won’t automatically “KILL OUR KULTURE”.
I would say that Dabo is at a crossroads with our program, but he’s just been standing at the crossroads the last 3-4 years doing nothing while the program continues to slip under his watch and the College Football world changing in front of his eyes, but yet he REFUSES to adapt. I just caution you not to follow too closely to the Orange Light that Dabo’s shining in your eyes. Think for yourself and take an HONEST look at where the program is and what the ISSUES ARE……….and if you still believe that Dabo is doing what’s best for our program then it is what it is I guess, but every issue I’ve mentioned above has been IMPOSSIBLE to miss if you’ve been paying attention the last 3-4 years.
All that said……….Dabo CAN FIX IT………he’s just got to put some pride and stubbornness aside, admit his mistakes………..and CORRECT THEM…………it’s pretty simple..................I just don't see him doing that....do you????. He knows that winning a minimum of 10 games at Clemson is all he needs to do to appease the Clemson masses.

I've read many comments on TNet over the past couple of years that suggest 10-3 every year will not necessarily appease the masses. I think fans will become increasingly frustrated when we keep on losing to the Georgia's, Notre Dames, and Usucks of the world. Fan loyalty, like attention spans, is much shorter today. Nobody cares about what happened 10 years ago (maybe even 5-6), unfortunately. I agree, Dabo does have to make some adjustments regarding the portal and coaching changes.

Either win against the elite competition or move on. And don't state the historical records. What is our record against top 10 teams since we won it in 18........

Agree 100% with the OP on every point. But, a Danny Ford (completely different situation with many off the field issues) type exit or any exit is off the table. Dabo does not have to appease anyone. The contract is for 10 years at 115 million and the money is all guaranteed. So, he's 1 year into this monster deal. Dabo will be the coach for 9 more years and the record is irrelevant. Based on the facilities and the competition I predict he will have a winning record every single year but it's simply irrelevant based on the contract. Take some time and read it. His lawyers did one heck of a job.

But name me one program who models them self after Clemson at this point? They aren’t in the playoffs and probably don’t have a winning record.
I’m pretty sure we are one of the few programs in the country who haven’t taken a meaningful impact transfer at this point.

Look at what FSU has done with their facilities and coach over the last couple of years and they are improving. That’s one. Minnesota is another. Several schools have sent representatives to visit our facilities and meet with our coaches in the last few years. We are a model program, even if our W-L record last year or this year or the number of transfers we have taken doesn’t meet your personal expectations.

So many people on this board see Dabo “admitting his mistakes” as a prerequisite to future success. It’s not going to happen. Folks at that level never admit to mistakes and certainly never publicly. Do you see Elon Musk admitting buying Twitter was a mistake even though he’s lost billions in a few short weeks? The President of Southwest Airlines made a half-hearted PR apology this week that totally fell flat. These folks just don’t admit they made mistakes. In their world, admitting mistakes is akin to total failure and that’s not in their DNA.

Good post. Not sure why someone would even expect it. Kinda like the story on front page where reporters ask if program is slipping. What is going to say? Oh yeah, our program is slipping. Heck no, but he did admit that it's not where he wants it. He wants to win every game... then admits " I promise you no other program has higher expectations than we (Clemson) does."
So he's admitting what everyone says. I truly believe with every fiber that Dabo understands all the issues better than anyone.

Sorry I took my head out of the sand just to make a few comments. Could not take all the idiots that are posting this stuff. All of you posting this negative crap are doing nothing but making yourselves look like the idiots you are.
I have been a CLEMSON FAN since I was born. To be honest I don’t know why I even read this stuff but I do sometimes and it makes me ashamed and embarrassed that some of our fans are this stupid. True Tigers would never be so negative. You go on here and talk about how Carolina Fans act and then you act worse than they do. Tigers are Tigers all their lives and proud to be one.
I have been watching Tigers play for over 60 years now and I have never been more proud of Clemson than I am right now. We have a clean program that takes young men and turns them into educated men with character. Life is not all about football, but football can be and is a big part of these young peoples lives. I hope that our team and coaches included don’t even bother to read this stuff. I for one am done with it.
Sorry to all of you that feel like I do. This is ridiculous.

I keep hearing about the weapons that Tennessee was missing but there has been nothing said about Murphy and Simpson not playing. If you can count Hooker, then Simpson's availability can't be questioned. Tennessee had 6 "3 and outs" and beat us with the big play. Maybe they make more big plays playing at full strength, but they still only stick 11 men on the field. Hooker is more flashy but Milton has the bigger arm, so can't guarantee that they even make as many plays.
We certainly have taken a few steps back, but let's don't be too negative about a game where we had over 50 plays in Tennessee territory and led time of possession by 10 minutes.

Love your last paragraph but that's part of the issue. How the heck do we have those stats plus over 100 plays on offense and only score 14 points. I know we missed 3 FG's but the numerous stalled drives in and near the red zone were horrendous.

They see a bad game but rationalize it by saying “but we won 11 games” and “many teams would love to be where we are.”
These rationalizations are usually accompanied by a reminder that we’ve won two national championships in the last decade.
It just gets old when people’s fandom won’t allow them to be objective about our program’s issues the last few years.

We lost to TN on Dec 30.
More recent winners are better than not-as-recent winners.
From that, we can conclude that you prefer EdOrgeron (LSU coach who led LSU to 2019 national title) to Dabo Swinney (most recent National title was in 2018).
Go for it; Ed Orgeron is awaiting your call.

You all do realize we have still been a top 10 team the last 2 years right? A bounce here or there and we would have been in the playoffs both years. We beat sc instead of losing by 1 point we would have been in the playoff yesterday. It's crazy how you people think our program is falling apart.

It's not that 10-3 or 11-3 are bad. It's that we could have done so much more if the coaching staff made the adjustments that were obvious to seemingly everyone.
Last season was just a tough season. That happens now and again for even the best program.
This season, of the coaching staff managed the quarterback situation better, we would have beaten USC. And if we had beaten USC we would have made the playoff. The playcalling that led to the loss to Tennessee was inexplicable.

It's not a loser mentality to understand that you don't always win every game. It's okay to be greatful for 11 win seasons. It's fine to want to win more as well but it is not okay to trash the program or the HC who took us from winning 7 or 8 games to now having a spoiled fan base who complain about winning 11 games. It was certainly disappointing to lose the orange bowl but it was closer than you overreacting people are making it out to be. Sure we have to improve in areas but we have a great rb duo, a great qb, and promising young wrs. Be great ful. Don't complain all the dang time.

Dear pheebo,
Using your standard of excellence and where you wish we were instead of where we are, LSU (with a more recent National Championship from 2019) is a better choice than Clemson (with our most recent National Championship from 2018).
The new standard is that newer titles are better than older titles.
Therefore, Ed Orgeron is a better choice for us than the out-of-date Dabo Swinney.

If you are unhappy with a double digit winning season and a conference championship you must be a real piece of work...DJ is gone, things will change without replacing anyone or hiring a loser from USF who bolted on his own...if you can't handle Dabo then root for the coots, FSU, UNC or jawja...Clemson will be no worse without you and you can write about their issues!

i love the Tigers, just wish Dabo would make the necessary changes needed but he won't anytime soon cause it makes him look like he made bad choices.. when venables and Elliott left last year, i said it was the worst decision not to go outside the clemson family/culture and bring in fresh faces that can coach these kids up and bring in some top recruits who want to play for clemson, i would love to see clemson get some big ole 350 lb lineman that can block and some 6'4 receivers that can catch the ball, we don't have those explosive receivers anymore that burns people.. like the teams we are playing..
Im hearing all the clemson is done from the sc fans and the georgia fans all the time, i hear that georgia is the next dynasty , Culture doesn't bring championships anymore in this new era, it sucks. and it effects recruiting big time, look at where all the big time receivers and rb's are going, i don't understand all the 5 star kids going and sitting the bench for two years at some of these programs and hitting the portal cause they didnt get what they wanted.
i say changes at oc isnt the only one needed, i say a complete overhaul.. haven't got a top rb in two years, since shipley and Mafha pray we dont lose either to the portal for more playing time, cause after next year we don't have a top notch rb on the roster..
Portal yes is the answer, hell look at geogia bringing in two top receivers next year out of the portal, and heck they are loaded with talent, look how smith played for them saturday night. wonder if he will hit the portal knowing these two guys are probably promised starting roles next year.
