Agree or disagree all the Changes in Clemson

from Knickerbockers being run out of town to the upheavel that is all this "new construction" all these changes have really changes the landscape around town and campus.. what say y'all....

Of course it's changing things. My old dorm, Johnstone, is pretty much gone - they started tearing it down the year after I graduated. Clemson is a growing university and will continue to grow, which means the campus will have to continue to evolve to keep up.
It's sad seeing some things disappear, but that's life. I hate that Ol' Norm's is gone! They were my go-to for almost everything but groceries and clothes! And Clemson House and the cheap movies at the Astro, too. But as long as Judge Keller's is still there, all is still right with downtown Clemson! There's still a lot of old, traditional Clemson left and some of that will never change - Tillman, the Y, the quad, the union & old A Section, shoeboxes, highrises, etc.

What is happening at Clemson is common place on most campuses. I guess it’s a changing of the times that we will accept. Sure is different from what It was in 1964!

Tough question. My niece was just talking about that last week. She and her fam were on a college tour for their son and we were talking about how much it’s changed. As much as I miss it, I understand that we have to grow.

I agree with all the changes. As a recent graduate, I want only the best facilities, academic buildings, dorms, etc. for this next generation of Tigers. Without all of the changes, it would be tough for Clemson to keep up with other schools that we compete with for kids.

just a couple steps to Riggs field to watch the varsity football team ...then some a hole went and moved the football field all the way to some valley on west campus...
some other a hole name John little decided to build some metroplex basketball facility over there also. I miss the basketball games in Fike.
I just hope they never let women play sports here.

The roads going into and leaving Clemson weren't really meant to have so many drivers on them. Traffic will continue to be an issue in a lot of places around the area on a daily basis

James Spearman used to cut my hair before he became a haberdasher. I remember when old Town Hall was still a working gas station.
Stick around anywhere long enough and change comes or the town dies. There are little communities all over the state that are dying or dead because progress forgot them.

Clemson has to recruit students just like the football team recruits players.
No one complains about upgrades to the football facilities, in fact, if a 5 star recruit was to say the new dorms or an upgraded classroom is what won him over, everyone would be all for the upgrades.

I think the changes are great and most are long overdue. However, I remember being driven around during my freshman orientation in 1975 and an old Clemson grad in the back of the bus screamed out: "They took down the flagpole! I cannot believe it! Why would they do that?" The entire bus sat in silence. I live in Tampa now and it is hard to get back; but, went back in 2014 for my first game since the early 1990s and I must admit, I felt a little the same way.

Here are the changes I don’t like:
- an Empty Hill
- no balloons.
- chain link fence in DV
- broccoli tree gone from DV
- no Clemson house.
- not allowed to sing the Georgia song at the end of the 3Q (us old folks really liked that tradition)
Changes I fear
- no standing allowed in DV
- only inside voices allowed.
- no fireworks or cannon
- prohibited from chanting the You su&$ song to Georgia Tech
