Question for my fellow T-netters

Apr 3, 2017, 2:08 AM

Made a comment on facebook sometime after the WBB game went final that was along the lines of saying that I guess that gamecock 'fans' (referring to 1's that'll ride the bandwagon when convenient) will say they've always been a basketball school. Guy that's a coots fan immediately jumps in saying stop w/ the butt hurt, that it's good for the state, etc. Conceding the fact it was (which between our football successes, CCU last year in baseball, & them in bball that college athletics in SC is looking the best it's ever been) & pointing out that ppl's gonna puff their chest about a sport they care nothing about & most likely couldnt even name any players on their own team.

So is he right that I'm butt hurt over USuC's success or is he have a 'you can't handle the truth' moment b/c I'm calling out fairweather fans trying to jump on anything they can?

Both. But almost ever USuCk fan I know did NOT attend the game. If it was football I don't know many who would miss it. That should prove your point. I think everyone would be lying if they said they didn't care whatsoever, because we would all be happy if Clemson made the final four. That said, it's just not nearly as big of a deal as it would be in football. Who can blame them when it's basically all they have?

Agree, both.

The truth of the matter is that USC is down in the dumps. They are not a good athletic program and are (rightfully) grabbing onto anything that even smells like success. Personally, I'm happy for them and their women's basketball program. Good for them. But, as I explained to my house coot buddy... If I had a Masters from UCONN in Women's Studies, I still wouldn't give #### about women's basketball. Good for USC, though. Good for them.

I got congrats from coots after the Natty

that went like this:

Congrats BUT lucky the refs didn't call a penalty on that illegal pick.

Congrats BUT lucky their running back got hurt.

Congrats BUT lucky for you so many other teams lost the weekend Pitt beat you.

Congrats BUT you shouldn't have been there after so many close games.

And on and on with the butts. Don't be that guy! Just say congrats and go about your business with a big smile. It's lonely on the high road but very satisfying. Go Tigers!
