After watching the Shrine Bowl yesterday, Jacob Parks is

Dec 22, 2013, 8:55 AM

not even close to being Mr.Football in South Carolina. Heck, he wasn't eve the best QB on the South Carolina team. The award in my opinion should have gone to J.0.

Rudolph should have been Mr Football. Had a great game yesterday and a tremendous season.

Will Georgia and Alabama ever recruit a mobile quarterback

Dec 22, 2013, 11:19 AM

than can make plays with his feet? The only two losses the last two years for Alabama were to mobile quarterbacks.

alabama's won 3 of the last 4 nattys; they might be ok.

neither system caters to what i think you mean by a mobile qb. they are both more 'traditional' power run, play action offenses.

i don't see either changing offenses[georgia has mason now, park coming] significantly until the hc changes.

Of course, but the game is changing to the point where they

won't be able to have the level of success they have enjoyed in the past. Other SEC teams and FSU seem to be recruiting on a similar level. As the southeastern recruiting talent gets spread over more teams, their talent advantage will diminish slightly.

Imagine how good Alabama, and Georgia, would be with their talent if their quarterbacks had playmaking ability in the run game and when the pass play breaks down.

saban will always get his. georgia isn't lacking for

talent and has the best rb combo in the nation. even losing all the offensive talent they did this year, they are top 15ish in total offense. georgia's biggest problem might be on defense.

as for fsu, everyone wanted winston; kid is a freak and there are not that many of him running around. he only rushed 77 times for ~ 200 yards. is that mobile? fsu has a big, badass offensive line that powers their run game. winston is a pocket passer first. fsu's offense is more similar to bama and georgia than not.

vlad lee is mobile. is that what you're thinking or are you thinking a winston type?

if either georgia or alabama find a qb that runs their system at a high level that can also break down a defense with his legs, yeah, they'll probably recruit him. maybe park's that guy for georgia. i don't know much about mason although he looked pretty good when i saw him late year.

I was impressed by all 3 QB's...

Rudolph definitely looked like one of the better QB's in the country. Should be a great pick up for OK St.

McClendon for the NC team showed good pocket presence and good throws from the pocket. Has a Tom Brady like stance and release which caught my eye. Crazy that he's only a 5.6 according to Rivals. I think that kid is going to be a stud for NC State.

Park probably didn't live up to the title of Mr. Football but he did show some signs of greatness out there. He had a scramble that would have been a great play where he broke away from several guys and ran towards the first down, quickly set his feet and fired to a wide open guy but the receiver dropped it. The announcers compared him to Brett Favre meaning he's got the gunslinger mentality which I think is pretty accurate. He'll be a good QB for Georgia when he finally gets the starting job.
