After the spring games, we know TWO teams in playoffs in ‘22

Injuries can happen, but I think we can safely pencil in two teams. The other two teams that can get in the play offs consist of approximately 5-8 teams.
I am afraid that college football is pretty much SET IN STONE at the top for the next 10 plus years.
And, honestly, I’m not happy about it.

Injuries were definitely one issue we had last year among a few others, but it has been pretty much set for the last few years. Hopefully this class that Clemson is recruiting now gets us back in the next couple of years. Not sure what the GA defense will look like this year with what they are losing but figure they will have some ready to go. Got to figure Texas A&M is up and coming. Folks act like Texas is on their way back. OSU and Bama are always there and then usually a surprise. With the pay for play now legal I figure there will be a few teams that will be set for a good while.

things break their way. I am not disputing that. It is certainly possible. The schedule is conducive and Tigers still have some talent. A big factor will be the QB.
But, Georgia and Alabama are in. I doubt many will dispute that. Some suggest Ohio St but I see issues there.

Alabama and OSU seem to be the most likely locks at this point in time.
UGA will have as talented of a roster as any team in the country and the schedule is relatively easy for the SEC. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if they ended up in the playoffs again, but there is a whole lot of talent off to the NFL. Right now, I’d probably favor Alabama in the SECCG, but it would be hard to keep the returning champs out if they run the regular season table and only lose in the conf championship game.
Given UGA’s propensity to sit on their balls once a season, I’m not so confident last year just wasn’t an aberration. That said, there are a whole lot of 5 stars waiting in the wings. We’ll see…

Bulldog is assuming, just like AFluffyDawg, that all the country wants to see a repeat of two SEC teams making the Playoffs in the same year. In reality, I believe the Committee would do anything within reason to keep that from happening year in and year out. They say so every year, saying that Conference Champions should get the nod if all else is approximately equal. Butt, last year was pretty cut and dried, with no real legit options other than putting two in from the SEC. However, predicting that this will be the norm going forward is a fish of another feather altogether.

What does it matter what the country wants to see? What the country wants to see are teams Notre Dame and Southern Cal in the playoffs. You think they're getting in? Georgia will win the East this year despite all the "mark it down" stuff people will post here. (You'd think they would have learned a lesson after the "mark it down" fest that preceeded the UGA - Clemson game). If the Dawgs win 'em all in the regular season - and they're going to - it will be UGA and Bama in Atlanta. With a close lose to Bama, the Dawgs will be in the playoff. My money is on Bama winning another national championship.

Games this year but not all. Their division is pretty weak compared to the West so they have a good shot there. They are losing a lot of good players this year. We’ll see how well those young 5 stars can come in and replace their starters. I don’t believe they will win the national championship this year. I certainly hope not. They have the pukiest fans around. I started going to those games in Clemson and in Athens when I was a kid in the 70’s and they most definitely have/had some hideous fans ??

Your post started out with such promise, and then...
Anyway, I'd agree with you the East is pretty weak and the Dawgs likely go undefeated in the regular season. The defense lost a lot of talent. They'll still be very good, and I think a playoff team, but this will be Bama's year. That should make a lot of the Clemson Tide fans here happy.

The purpose of my post was to talk about the other two possibilities for the play offs.
I absolutely DO think Clemson has a shot. I don’t think it is likely due to the last few years, but I think we can discuss it with give and take.
