defense played just well enough to win, but were intentionally holding back to keep from dominating. It's pretty obvious BV's name was getting up there in head coaching rumors. The players were throwing it just a little to make the defense look worse than it is. Think about it, returning players want to play for BV again next year. So they made him look just bad enough to not get any HC offers, while playing just good enough to win.
I just hope they get over it, or else they will play just bad enough to lose, and ain't nobody got time fo dat.

My guess is BV has several HC inquiries in his back pocket now. He will select the one he wants and can take off on a positive move with.
Don't kid yourselves about him being in the view of some of the search committees for open positions.

is if his defense is just average. So they tank it a bit against Cuse, Wake and USuCk because they know the offense will easily outscore those teams.

too tenderly and then as soon as most of the hires are made, the defense tells the AD they were just joking?
That way our AD would know he was in the clear, but other schools would worry about him being ghey in the locker room.
This plan seems much more foolproof.

You play and don't let up, nor assume the game is in the bag. Syracuse got within a score of us. Allowing another team that sort of confidence is beyond irresponsible. Put a team away. Avoid unnecessary injuries that happened as we had to work for it late.
And don't try and deny a great coach his chance to move up if his time comes. Leave that up to BV.
I don't buy this nonsense.

I think BV already nailed the issue. The defense expects to dominate teams like Syracuse and underestimate being a target as the #1 team. They are looking ahead to UNC and licking their chops for another big game with a quality opponent. This defense feeds on doubt, it motivates them to no end. The defense in particular the LBs have to be physically worn too.
Make it through the ACCG and give this defense a rest and big games that people will doubt them in. You're gonna see a very dominate D in the playoffs.
