Advice on Traffic Route

Oct 19, 2012, 9:57 AM

I will be coming to the game from Lexington Saturday morning.

I have had a lot of traffic issues in the past on I-26 and especially in Easley on 123.

I am considering this alternate route, see link below. Does anyone have experience with some of these roads on gamedays? Hwy 25, Hwy 8, and Hwy 88 especially?

I've traveled these roads before during normal times and there is usually no traffic whatsoever. Just not sure how ramped up they get for gamedays. Any help would be appreciated.

Also if I get to Clemson by 9:00, do you think I will avoid the worst of the traffic?

Hwy 8 & 88 aren't too bad. More traffic on game days than

there used to be. Although this year, we've driven in without any traffic issues at all. You should be fine getting to Clemson by 9:00.

Do you think if I leave at 6:30 I would make it to Clemson by 9:00 with this route?

The back roads getting you to I-85 would kill your time. IMO. Once you crossed 85, that route is decent.....if you are early enough. If you plan to be IN Clemson by 9, you should be OK. Any later and you are asking for a jam.

Which back roads do you think would kill my time?

I've driven the route from lexington to greenwood several times and they is almost no traffic at all. Can usually go 60 the whole way.

I know that 25 is usually great too. 4 lanes and not much traffic lights.

I was most concerned with 8 and 88.

What's different about this way? Looks like the exact one I posted...

Don't go the way I go

Oct 19, 2012, 10:37 AM

might slow me down...

I go this way every game. It's usually good but..

We usually have law enforcement at the 178/88 intersection which keeps things rolling. Last year we had a few games where they were not in place and it really slowed things down with the four way stop there. There is usually law enforcement at the turn off 88 to 123 which helps too. For a noon game it will be heavy traffic but moving at a good pace. I normally am not stopped waiting until I get down 123 and almost completely into Clemson. Getting to Clemson by 9:00 sounds good. Of course it goes without saying that the later the more traffic.

When I went for ball state I took 385 to 85 as normally I would. Then exit 19. I didnt hit any traffic until I got through pendleton where cars were deciding which route to take in.

Highway 81, 88, and 8 are bad. I'm going 123 from now on. It's much more consistent.
