lots of money, in SEC, great fans, large alumni base, in capitol of state, large stadium with ever improving grounds around it, three straight 11 win seasons, 5 straight over TiGs, etc.
Saying..we've got to focus on what we have..can do..and improve.
GoTiGERS..beat the Bucks and start 2014 off on a great RoAR!

I usually give you a point and I'd really like to now. I happen to agree with you about the coots' team and coaches but you'll not get a point out of me over praise to coot's anything.

I suppose that is even more embarrassing. I know this board is full of dipchit Tiger fans, but they generally don't post until Clemson is losing a game.

I don't think your a coot but you are the embarrassing one by name calling a true Clemson fan and elder Tiger who deserves respect. The Gamecock program is very good right now and denying it doesn't change it.

And you'll see I've said the SC program is at its best and we are silly to talk about firing coaches because of the losses.
As for my original comments to the original poster, WGAS about all of the SC program comments? Last I checked, this is a Clemson board, but hey, all the good posters from years past like Happycat and others are gone for good reason.

TF1....I can understand hesitancy to allow any opponent

recognition; however, you have to understand that Bill's background was a valued sports columnist for "The Tiger," and his responsibilities were to evaluate our programs and report objectively.
Now, I've long believed that to compete effectively, you must know your opponent and acknowledge his capabilities, even if that means contrasting and comparing to our own. This was Bill's direction.
Simply, if we are to bring a halt to this peating business, we will have to lay aside the denigrations and opt for honest evaluation of the status of the Gamecocks' program. I think Coach Spurrier quickly began to realize this, and he has been effective developing the strategy for the wins.
Bill, thus, is correct: we must do the same.

into what may have been their objective.
I've been saying to many Tiger fan friends that SC is certainly at the pinnacle for their program. They finally have someone with a name that could lure some talent and actually coach them up. We have little to be ashamed of with them winning the series over the last few years (although the loss this past year was mostly attributable to our TOs, they did dominate us in coaching and playmaking the years before).
It is so silly, with another (and final) BCS game on the horizon to see posters spend more time talking about SC. Does SC have an a55hole for a coach? - sure. Do a majority of their players act like thugs? - of course. Is their program a centerpiece for "we cannot act like we've been there before because we haven't"? - d@mn right. And that has been the case for DECADES, but it hasn't consumed us like it does now.
But the thing that bothers me the most is this board has turned into the FGF of the late 90's and early 2000's. Even when the series winner was going back and forth, we knew we were better and the losers on their board said some of the most ridiculous things about Clemson only because there was nothing else to debate. Meanwhile, it was nice that most of our conversations were centered on recruiting, assistant coaching moves, upcoming opponents, etc. And now, with the on-field results having changed as of late, it's disappointing to see the impact spilling over to the forum. I guess all that really needs to be said is that winning cures everything, and it's up to Dabo and Co. to figure out how to do that for a change when it comes to our rival.

Thanks for the insight, per usual! I know I'm not too popular on this board, but I've always believed that in order to improve, a person, a team, or a business has to face reality about where they stand. I'm not too keen on excusing the last few year's bottom lines by bragging about the company profits from the 1940's or 1950's. Dabo's football program (like Spurrier's program also) needs to address any potential weaknesses that hamper it from reaching a higher level. That has got to entail learning from and taking things from your opponents that may help you reach your goal.

An honest post Bill. You'll get called a coot and drop in your pulse but sometimes you have to give credit where it's due. The Gamecocks are a very solid program and it is what it is. :-/

He actually killed the chicken curse and ended a century of pathetic futility. One of the most impressive coaching feats I can think of. I mean... South Carolina football has ALWAYS been a hilarious joke. Still surprised he pulled it off.

I will admit they have squandered a chance to win the SEC , especially when it's been down. Good ol rocky top...
FACTS: They have always had a large fan and alumni base, as far as I know they've always been located in the Capitol, and I think they've always had that large ratty stadium, They have always had money and I believe they've been in the sec for over 20 years.
So, the facts that I described above didnt seem to help them at 0-21.

They owe a lot of their success to Connor Shaw.
Jan 1, 2014, 4:40 PM

He is an outstanding QB who makes good decisions. He is a threat passing and running, and is a good leader for them. Without him, I don't think they would have been nearly as successful these last few years. I'm so glad he is gone. His departure will be a big reason why the series returns to being a Clemson-dominated one.

losing 2 to Garcia and 1 to Thompson during the current streak.
No doubt, Shaw is the best USC QB I've seen and has been a big part of the successes of the last 3 years. But, he only started 2 of the last 5 games against Clemson.
If I were a Clemson fan I'd certainly be happy to see him gone, and I'd rather face someone else at QB. But, it isn't like he is the only one beating Clemson recently.
