The only reason in todays world a conference expands

The only reason to expand is to "add to the overall value" of the conference. In my way of thinking, that means they must "bring" more than they "receive" as far as the almighty dollar is concerned. I believe that the only additions that meet that criteria thus far have been,
Miami
FSU
Va Tech
The schools that in my opinion have been "net drains" on the annual distribution
Pitt
Syracuse
On the bubble ,
Boston College
As for how good a job Swofford's ACC did in selecting expansion schools.
1.FSU fell in our lap when Florida blackballed them to the SEC
2.Miami -you have to give credit on that pick, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
3. Va Tech- Swofford had the hokies forced upon him. the State of VA held us hostage and was going to blow up the deal , if Virginia Tech was not taken.
4. Boston College while on a serious slide had the TV market we needed. Kudos though sorta
5. Pitt and Syracuse did nothing to provide a "net add " . They just made the pie a little bigger but everyone's slice stayed net zero. I see them as wasted draft picks.
Now , "no sense in crying over spilt milk" .
1. Throw the house at get ND to say yes
a. do away with divisions
b. let them pick a school to come iwth them even if it is Navy
c. let them bring their NBC deal in with a negotiated split of ACC team TV revenue for ND games allowing ND to keep the NBC revenue on non conference games and a portion of conference revenue.
d. full revenue sharing all other sports.
IF ND says no. Show them the door for all sports. And move on to option 2.
Option 2. Go to 20 and get on with it

Your comment reminds me of a farmer that I saw selling watermelons on the way into clemson from seneca. Traffic was backed up , and I stopped to pick up a melon. He was selling them at, "2 melons for 3.oo" I asked him how much it cost him to grow those melons, and he told me that it cost him just over 2 dollars per melon.
I asked him , how can you sell them at 2/3.00. Farmer Swofford answered, I am planning to make it up on volume.

Adding BC was a terrible decision...

and the only reason BC got invited had nothing to do with TV markets as Swofford tried to spin it, but everything to do with the fact that his son worked for the BC Athletic Department at the time.
People in the Boston television market couldn't care any less about Boston College. They care about the Patriots, the Celtics, the Red Sox and the Bruins.

I don't think BC even helped with tv market. No one, well hardly anyone, in Boston gives a crap about BC sports.

and the three others that pointed out my miss-judgement. Ok move BC from a hold my nose and give Swofford an OK on the pick to lousy Comish that hated Clemson and only wanted to grease the palm of his son.
Jeepers , that was a meant as a footnote in my original post. I was hoping to elicit some dialogue on the recommended steps forward.
