I believe there are a lot of people that just don’t like Dabo (and Clemson). Including some in the media. They will attack anything he says regardless of it being truth or not..

He gets crucified for any point he tries to make. There's nowhere near the level of vitriol for other coaches when they say basically the same thing.

In large part it stems from a laziness from sportswriters.

Dabo isn't shy about sharing his thoughts, and when he does he often has many words to offer around them. There's more material to work with around Dabo, so for many it's easy pickings to simply latch on to something that someone else brought out of him and run with it in a direction of their choosing. They get read, and get airtime, without having to put in the time and work to go to the source itself or gather all of the relevant information that tells the true story.

The NCAA has control over the Portal but zero control over the athlete's right to earn money now that it is a law. The only way NIL can be changed is for states or Congress to change it and can you imagine a lawmaker voting to deprive citizens of their rights? NIL is what it is.

It's more intertwined than that without college football their name and likeness are worthless. If you're not seeing their faces on Saturday, if they're not getting Heisman recognition, if they don't show up in the highlight real, no one needs them to sell their goods. I keep seeing the same pearl clutchers whining about coaches being able to freely move from job to job but they choose to ignore the fact most coaches have buyout clauses. If Rattler had to pay $5M to leave OU, like Lincoln Riley did, do you think he'd be fighting like hell to be Venable's starter or would he be in Columbia?
