This Writer is What's Wrong with America...

I'm not sure how many hockey fans we have here, but the other night a guy for the Bruins broke his fibula while trying to block a shot the other night. Pittsburgh was on a power play, so they were already a man up, so instead of staying down he did his best to get up and try to play defense on his broken leg (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h15m87WsCHQ)

This ####### writer has the gaul to talk about how this is a bad thing. How he's an idiot for doing what he did...check out the article if you haven't had your blood boil in awhile.

It could have made his injury worse, thus, threatening his career. I applaud the player for the display of toughness and effort, but the guy's got a point.

I wouldn't want my players risking further injury like that either

I love hockey, and I have been a HUGE Bruins fan my entire life. They are the only team that come close to touching Clemson Football to me. For those of you who don't follow hockey, these playoffs are as intense as it gets in sports...period.
What Campbell did the other night is nothing short of awesome. Not only did he turn the entire game around with his selfless effort, but he probably cemented himself as a Boston sports legend forever..
My point is, I couldn't agree with you more! GO B's and GO TIGERS!

Yea man, he definitely did. I was listening to it on the radio because I was at the hospital...definitely didn't sound good but the garden definitely gave him a lot of cheers...sucks he's out for the remainder of the playoffs though, hopefully they wrap it up tonight

It's easy to hover over a keyboard with 20/20 hindsight and say what should have been and what shouldn't.

Look at me, I'm doing it now!

If that ##### got out of his grandmother's basement and picked up a ball or a stick I might have a little respect.

Does anyone remember a few yrs back there was a CFB player who had injured a finger badly and was told if he played any more games that yr, he would likely lose the finger? He told the docs to just cut it off and wrap the stump....he was going to continue playing. Anyone here remember the details? THAT'S a kid I want on my team!

His point stands.

But what he misses is the player makes the choice. He makes the gamble of putting his body on the line (for a large paycheck at that) and if injured makes the choice to gut it out or lie there (or try to get to the bench as fast as possible for an on the fly sub).

This isn't a life threatening injury. He broke his leg. He gutted it out and hats off to him for doing so, thought I wouldn't have blamed him if he decided he couldn't.

Maybe whats wrong witn America is the need to put personal health and well being in front of anything else when playing a "sport" for fear of reprive and ridicule from the fat overweight diabetic armchair fan or dork non sports playing media guy. There is more to life outside of sports and I have played and love sports more than anyone.
