ACC: Percentage of Alumni who donate

May 16, 2016, 10:07 AM

Interesting that we have the 4th fewest living alums in the conference, and Second fewest of the public schools by barely nudging GT.

interesting numbers

assuming that the Hokie numbers are accurate... that the numbers of donors in the list are alumni donors and not the total number of donors

so since the (UNC) Rams Club has about 16,000 members... and if less than 12,000 living alumni donated, then more than 1/4 of the Rams Club members (who would have to be counted as athletic donors) are not alumni

anyone know what the IPTAY membership total is? wonder what the alumni percentage is?

I would like to see a much larger number of alumni donate toClemson University .... not just the sports programs

I question these figures

I think donating to the school should be required to donate to athletics.

That, or take a percentage of IPTAY donations and earmark them for the university. It doesn't have to be much, but enough to remind people that Clemson is a school first.

You gotta remember that all these new buildings have names. Names paid for by donations. I would bet that the university gets roughly the same as the athletic department. Not saying that's fair or not fair but I bet the numbers are close.

But if anyone has data, post it. I'm curious! :)

here are som numbers for CU and UNC

May 16, 2016, 9:33 PM

CU had 24,000+ individual donors in 2015

"More than 24,000 individuals made donations to the university during the fiscal year. Nearly 23 percent of the school’s alumni contributed, which remains one of the highest participation percentages among public universities in the nation."

only thing i could find for UNC lumped individuals with corporations and foundations for 69,000

"Nearly 69,000 donors of alumni, parents, community members, corporations and foundations contributed to the successful year."

That number is manipulated. They give everyone at graduation $2 to "donate" to the school so that's about 4K extra donors
