Paul Johnson has a $7.5 million buyout

which is the ONLY REASON his seat isn't significantly hotter.
If he survives this season, it will be be because of the large buyout and not because GT has suddenly developed a renewed enjoyment for him or his coaching style.

I think I know who gave paul Johnson that HUGE contract and buyout that is too big for gt to get rid of him. most of the fans want him gone, but just like Hewitt's contract from the same ad, it almost broke the bank! they had a large turnout for the spring game this year and the 125 people that showed up were happy with what they saw!

Are you being serious, Ned?

Yeah, DRAD added a one-year extension to the Johnson contract, which wasn't initially signed by him. He added one year and modified it from $11 to $17 million. HOWEVER, it was in 2009. They hit 9 wins in 2008 in Johnson's 1st year, including beating Georgia for the first time in 13 years, then they beat FSU, VT, Clemson during an 11 win season in 2009, along with an ACC Title and the best two-year record (19-5, 0.792) in school history.
There wasn't a darn thing wrong with the decision at the time. And besides, are you suggesting every AD who made a mistake in hiring a coach should be ridiculed or otherwise? Would there be any ADs left anywhere??
Surely you didn't think your post through very well, but then again, do you ever?

With Duke winning the Coastal division last year, the table is set for Paul Johnson and GT to have a redeemable year here in 2014.

Georgia Tech's schedule is so easy, they better win a few more games. Just watch out for Georgia Southern, they're no joke for a new BCS team!
Looks like Paul Johnson's seat is now on fire despite his week 1 whooping of Wofford. http://coachingtreehotseat.com/is-coach-paul-johnson-on-the-hot-seat/

I feel like when you look at the talent that Paul Johnson's had to coach over the years, he should have been doing a bit better than hovering around .500 in this conference.
According to http://coachingtreehotseat.com/is-coach-paul-johnson-on-the-hot-seat/ his career record with GA Tech is only 0.595 over 7 years. I'd say that's about a C+ grade instead.

Stephen Hill was a great WR and I remember their linebackers packing a pretty heavy punch. Sure it wasn't the best but I believe Paul Johnson took over the season after Calvin Johnson left. Couldn't he parlay the best WR of the last 10 years into something a bit more?

Dabo just won double digit 3 straight years with 2 straight 11-2's. I hope he looks pretty good. God forbid, he lose to a top 10 team every now and then. He beats a lot of them too.

Dabo could get fired. If he allows the program to sink back to the Bowden level, he'll get the boot. I hope he makes it, but if the program falters he could be gone in 3 years.
